Fights coming?

I read yesterday that Tennessee so far has picked up 42% of the tickets. And with the prices dropping on the secondary market, it could be close to 50-50, which would be awesome. Neyland North!
Our fans not understanding the math and that its 42% of the secondary market makes my head hurt. We will have between 15-20,000 fans out of 103,000

The article I read stated that the Tennessee fans were able to get the Ohio State fan presale code, so it's not 42% of the secondary market. Now that will be part if it I'm sure, but there were 1000's sold on their presale site to TN fans. So we'll see what the numbers actually are when we see a sea of Orange in the stands.

It is only 42% of the secondary market - that's all the data they have to report on. No one has any idea how many tickets were purchased through the Ohio State presale because that information is not released by the school.

I would hope that there are none. First, we don't really have much of a history with OSU. Second, as much as I LOVE Tennessee sports (and sports in general), some things are bigger than sports; namely being a decent human. Win or lose I'd much rather hear from the OSU faithful that Tennessee fans were a pleasure to have in Columbus, much like the mutual respect that we have with Oregon's fanbase. Should we advance and play the Ducks, I don't suspect there will be any problems there either.

Ok, so you are saying 42% of the secondary market and this does not count how many TN fans bought their tickets with the presale code. Got it.

I like it. Let's start encouraging folks to be respectful towards others! Social media has brought "trash-talking" to a terrible level and in-person events are no longer fun in my opinion. The last time I saw an SEC game in Neyland was vs. Georgia in '21. Paid a lot to get tickets and sat around drunk Georgia fans that trashed talked the Vols from well before the game until we left. I won't do that again. Boomer out.

Worst fans in CFB are Georgia and Ohio State.

If you're not wearing their colors within 30 miles of the stadium, you're a target.

With 1/4-1/3 of the seats in Columbus filled by orange-clad crazies, there will be fights.

Never been to Columbus. Never had a problem in Athens. Have had a punch thrown at me at the O&W game by one of our fans who was smoking in his seat, 3 feet away from my then 7 month old daughter.

Nah...It's like anywhere else. You will get treated how you treat others.

If you aren't trying to provoke anyone, the only place you would have any issues is the student section. But that is true anywhere. How you carry yourself and interact with others is often directly proportional to your age and maturity level. Believe it or not, you will find the average fan friendly here. There is always the casual back-and-forth ribbing but it's of the more friendly kind and not ongoing or provocative. Bottom line is, unless you are looking for trouble, you won't find it and have nothing to worry about. Get in someone's face after a few beers and obviously that changes.

Not always true. I've seen very hostile actions taken on literal kids from a Vandy fan, dipspit thrown on someone by a Vandy fan (literally wasn't even speaking to the person), and a NC State fan tried to fight me in Charlotte for saying Smokey could kill a whole wolf pack. Thought the joke was pretty obvious, but drunk idiots are drunk idiots.

All I can go by is my own experience. I have been going to games here for decades. I have never once seen a fight between opposing fans. I have never seen it happen even when Michigan comes into town. In general, people just mind their business and don't go out of their way to start trouble with visiting fans. Are there the typical verbal jabs or taunts about the opposing team ? Sure, but not of the aggressive kind and its not personal insults against people. I have never seen it. The worse incident I have seen is some drunk guy get escorted out for getting into a verbal altercation with the fan sitting in front of him over some petty issue about seats.

Is this orange takeover thing actually happening? We know all too well what happens when you have a dejected fan base and an opponent who wants to rub your nose in dog poo. Bammers took over Neyland several times. I just can't imagine letting that happen when your team is hosting a playoff game.

Sure would be nice, but since Basilio said it, I’m not getting my hopes up for anything near it.
I’m a regular listener to TTBS but I definitely take what he says with a grain of salt . Tony often employs the ol “throw chit up against a wall & see what sticks “ method.

My cousin is a diehard OSU fan. Season tickets. I asked about how crazy it is in other colors and they said the only time there have been issues are when Michigan is in town and it's usually alcohol involved from both parties. I wouldn't be concerned going. I'm close but sitting out due to children and the 815 start. Wish we got the noon or 4 start and if been there.
