Film Breakdown

Maybe some of yall can watch and learn that Nico isn't the only guy on the field. WRs weren't getting open and our OL is soft as hell getting manhandled by a 3 man front

He isn’t breaking down the entire game.
(Not even coaches have time for that)

Nico seems to have forgotten how to throw WRs open.
Play calling lacks creativity. Like why didn’t we go back to playing 12 personnel?
Why didn’t we roll the pocket from time to time?
No RBs screen?? Why TF are we still throwing deep shots to Bru?

Everything was run at them or drop back and throw to a deep, slow developing route.
And even though Nico is 6’6 he still just doesn’t see the field.
Our defense had 7 stops with Arkansas not getting any points. That should be good enough to beat any team with how good our offense should be.

Also…Arkansas is 4-2 now? Could easily be 6-0.
They’re a good team. But we are faster and supposedly more advanced.

This loss is only magnifying what we’ve seen from Nico in the past not 1, not 2, but THREE games. Yes look at his Kent State performance.

He’s not ready and he’s playing with way too much pressure on his shoulders.

Florida comes to town this week…

And I don’t care much about College Football if the Vols aren’t playing well- when they have the talent to play well.

Heupel had the Purdue game in 2021.
South Carolina game in 2022
Florida game in 2023.
Arkansas in 2024. He’s good for at least one TERRIBLE game a year. Hopefully this is that one.

This fanbase needs to be very careful with what is put out into the webs. These kids can all leave anytime. Talking mad sh1t about a freshman QB in his second road start is not a good look. Anyone with a brain knew there would be struggles regardless if he is paid. Secondly it's really none of our business what he is paid.

No one blames Nico. Kid is a talent.

Loss is on OL, WR, and to an extent the kid who got roughing punter call.

Which school could Nico go to where the fan expectations are low enough for him, if he were so mentally fragile that he was actually affected by some rando's message board comments?

Lots of potential points left on the field. Ouch.

Just a tough night for almost everyone.

I watched his breakdown.
He pointed out several times the WR’s we’re open and we should of gotten 2-3 more touchdowns but The pass blocking and Nico didn’t get it done

WRs weren’t getting separation on the vertical routes and Pass protection/ Blitz pickups were so bad that there was no time anyway.

This is why I’m not fond of modern spread offenses. Sometimes you’ve got to get under Center with an H-back, and go 4 yards and a cloud of dust until the defense stops playing flag football. We’re either going to have to start playing more 12 personnel or really turn Nico loose with more read option to keep defenses honest. Arkansas just did what UGA has been doing to us the last few years.

I am not happy about play calling to help Nico (quick passes and lack of use of RBs and TE in passing game).

Already, the second play showed in the video highlights that. On the left side, if the inside wide receiver cut inside with a slant, that is an easy 5-10 yard pickup and could have been done in 1-2 seconds before blitzers got there.
Exactly, play calling wasnt as bad as some seem to think.
It could improve but
Biggest problem was very poor execution and the coaches deserve the biggest slice of blame for not havin the team better prepared coming of a bye week

First, the WRs have to run a route that gives them a chance to be thrown open, especially with a lot of the routes being choice routes dependent on coverage.

Secondly, almost every time they did get open. The pocket was immediately collapsing or just had free rushers.

Also play calling was extremely vanilla. No Speed Option, Read Option, Buck Sweep. No quick game outside of RPOs.

But honestly, when your OL is as piss poor as ours has been all season, it makes it hard to run the ball against good teams, which creates a lot of light boxes, which makes it hard on the pass game. Still think playcalling was super vanilla.

That is just not true. Watch the film.
There were many times they were.

He's a freaking freshman....... just like the idiots talking about hot seat for Heupel.

The question stands, if he's affected by message board comments in the days of modern social media commentary, which school could he go to where he'd be safe from reading mean words by randos on the internet?

Vanderbilt... lol

I personally don't think Nico is the problem, it is how we are coaching around him but I will state that Taylen Green looked like a far better QB than Nico Saturday night.

Perhaps instead of investing in unproven High School QBs, we should be trying the Vandy strategy and going and finding a solid G5 level QB and paying them to transfer over.
