Final AP Poll Rankings (1/10/2023)

Can we all take a moment to consider how crazy it is that we are even having this discussion about whether Tennessee should be ranked higher than #6 in the final poll for 2022?

I still can’t believe the season that just happened.
I’m with you and this is why the SC game doesn’t actually bother me as much as some. Yes it would’ve been great to make the playoffs but we shouldn’t have been in that position this year based on our roster. It was disappointing for sure but off games happen and SC was just on fire, Rattler in particular. When I look back, we had an amazing year that is on par with any year in the “glory days” of the 90s and early 00s save one.

They played Georgia better than other contenders for the spot. And Georgia beat both teams that beat Bama pretty handily.
Yeah but who played UGA second best this year? Missouri. 3rd best? Kent St. Almost wins don’t count. Ohio State finally played up to their capabilities but they also got blown away at home by Michigan and playing the best game I’ve seen them play in a very long time still wasn’t enough. No way Ohio State should be above Michigan.

I wasn't necessarily rooting for them...but Georgia winning just makes the game next year at Neyland that much bigger. Hope it's 1 vs. 2. Playing for the top spot in college football playoff, the East Title, and ending their 27 game winning streak.
If we win at Bama that will be the biggest game in Neyland since undefeated Arkansas rolled in to play number 1 and undefeated UT back in November 1998. Oh, I’m already getting good bumps!

It really does, we play them at home this year. and they will probably be ranked #1 , beat them and it helps us.
You're entitled to your opinion, but I assure you, Georgia winning hurts us. Look at recruiting now, and watch it next year now that they won again.

Why Michigan behind Ohio State when Michigan has 1 less loss and took Ohio State to the woodshed at Ohio State? I know Ohio State played UGA better than anyone but still.

That's just the way I see it. Case in point, OSU lost to Mich. - We lost to USC - as I think about us vis SC, I think the same way about OSU vis Mich. Now, Mich. lost to a much overrated TCU (not a good thought for Mich. standing) OSU vis Ga. was for all intent and purposes was the championship game. That is my reasoning AND for the purposes of "rankings" my reasons are as good as anybody else's. (hardly worth the time and effort to decide them!):)

I just caught up the with polls and saw that career idiot Mike Berardino took his one man war against Tennessee all the way to the finish line by voting them 8th in the final poll - AND voting Alabama second - which insured that Alabama finished ahead of Tennessee in the final poll.

I know this has probably already been discussed and we already hate the guy, but I wanted to remind anyone who'd forgotten that Berardino is the same guy who single-handedly kept Tennessee from a consensus #2 spot in the October 30th AP poll by voting them FIFTH after we beat Kentucky to to 8-0.

He voted Tennessee TENTH going into bowl season.

He is a real piece of ... I'm not allowed to say, but if anyone catches him in the state of Tennessee, you have my permission to explain things to him.

I was looking again at the final top #25. Bama beat three teams that finished in the top 25: Kansas State (#14), Miss State (#20) and Texas (#25). We beat four teams: Bama (#5), Clemson (#13), LSU (#16) and Pitt (#22). So, how in the world can you put Bama over Tennessee. This is really starting to piss me off.

Hey, I disagree and that’s cool. I get your reasoning. Me personally, I’d put Mich at 2, I guess Ohio State at 3 (but I really want to say us), UT 4, Bama 5 and TCU 6.

So we beat #22, 16, 13, and 5.

Glad to see we knocked the pretty off of Clemson a bit.

Team 1 beat #5, #13, #16, and #22

Team 2 beat #14, #20, #25

Team 1 lost to #1 and #23

Team 2 lost to #6 and #16

Team 2 lost to Team 1

On what planet does Team 2 end up ranked higher than Team 1 to end the season???

Only if Team 2 is named Alabama so they end up ranked higher.
