Final AP Poll Rankings (1/10/2023)

And we have Tennessee fans who wanted Georgia to win because they thought we'd finish higher 🤣. Georgia winning did absolutely nothing for us, except give them a bigger edge in recruiting. Hopefully some people see this now.
Real talk. Some people got really upset because people on here wouldn't pull for Georgia. It's just insane.

I wasn't necessarily rooting for them...but Georgia winning just makes the game next year at Neyland that much bigger. Hope it's 1 vs. 2. Playing for the top spot in college football playoff, the East Title, and ending their 27 game winning streak.

I understand that, but it in no way helps us that they won

I'd give myself a Prince Albert with a rusty 16penny nail before I'd cheer for Georgia .

I sure as hell didn’t want them to win. Have never bought into the thought that you should pull for sec team. Doesn’t help us in the least

There is no way you can rank TCU ahead of Ohio State. That's ridiculous. Does anyone honestly think TCU is the 2nd best team in the country ?

OSU lost their final 2 games. One was to Michigan by 22. TCU beat Michigan. TCU was the only other team (besides Georgia) playing the 15th game.

No doubt they got destroyed…….but really didn’t we see that coming.

I think Georgia winning (and in the fashion that they did) helps us much more than them losing. It does nothing for us (on a national level) if they lose. But it can cement the image of the SEC being far superior than every other conference in college football with them winning as big as they did. Which could mean the difference in a playoff spot next year if we have 1 or 2 losses. Yes an SEC team dominating a team in the NC helps us and the conference and gives the committee more to think about when filling that last playoff spot in the future. A ton of variables but Georgia winning this game like they did could directly affect whether we end the season #4 or #5 in the playoff rankings next year if the cards fall just right. Say we are 10-2 and fighting with a handful of other 10-2 or 11-1 teams for that final spot.

OSU lost their final 2 games. One of which was to Michigan by 22…….but they should be #2?

wow talk about moral victories

I'd give OSU a mulligan for the Michigan loss because you know how those rivalry games go. Michigan playing well and OSU lost to them bad the year before, so they might have been in their head a little. They'd have beaten Georgia outright had their coaches not sh*t the bed. If you take them out of the discussion, that leaves us or Alabama for no.2 . I'm not sure either of us would beat OSU. Maybe.

It's like contemplating a sack of hammers.

It appears a bunch of people putting out rankings that do not know much about football. Imo the 4 best teams were not in the playoffs. I would have picked Ga. Ut, Lsu, and Bama but no way that was going to ever happen. Mich played one of its worst games of the season against TCU, and Ohio State played their best game of the year, and Ga was off the game they played Ohio State. The committee doesn't appear to care about strength of schedule at all. nor head to head competition.

I mean I get it…….but we’re doing a lot of work arounds and a lot of we couldn’t they couldn’t with this……..instead of what actually happened.

OSU really lost their final 2, one by 22 to Michigan, who lost 1st round to TCU.

It’s sucks, especially given how bad TCU lost and that we really all believe OSU (and Tennessee) is better…….but that’s how it went down. The rankings should and did reflect reality.

We got a complete hose job but that’s ok because our time is coming..tcu lost 2 of their last 3 and got blown out of the building in the biggest game of the year. Yet they stay at 2 what a joke…so get your kicks in while you can. If they can’t tell conference matters then they are as blind as Ray Charles..

Bama didnt lay a turd against a divisional opponent. We did.

Also, we didn't "beat that ass" as much as we won on a last second field goal.
True but if you look at common opponents, Vandy and LSU, that’s coring differential is in our favor by about the same amount of points as the difference in points between our losses and theirs. Basically, the fact we whipped LSU at LSU while they lost at LSU erases the SC loss in my mind. Since those things offset the head to head should rule.
