Finebaum putting out Oklahoma coming after Heupel

Why would Heupel leave? Especially for Oklahoma? Hell, why would he leave for Bama?

The college football landscape is changing. Tennessee has one of the greatest and most powerful fanbases that donate to, arguably, the best NIL collective in the NCAA. He has been hired by one of the best Athletic Directors in the business (who he is familiar with and worked with for years), by a school with a DEEP history of success. He already has the full support of the damn state and everything is humming.

There isn't a better place to be for him. Oklahoma will never recruit like UT does. After the Saban era, Bama will fall back to obscurity and I don't see them crawling out of it. There are only a handful of teams left in the NCAA that will be able to match UT in a few years. Here is why...Teams with strong leadership, fanbase, and top notch NIL are the future. No longer will "recruiting coaches" be the standard as long as there is a strong NIL. Heupel and UT are proving this. We are doing more with less.

I sincerely doubt Heupel is going anywhere. In the end Oklahoma fired him. Yes, I know that $$$ makes up for a lot of bad feelings but for once I don't think money is going to be an issue.

DW doesn't seem like the kind of guy who is going to nickel and dime everything. When things are going well, UT football is a money making machine and all parties involved are well aware of that..

He has hired Heupel twice so obviously there is a decent relationship there. Is going into yet another messed up situation worth an extra $500K knowing that as soon as things go even a bit bad he would be fired at Oklahoma?

As things are he has UT rolling. He could run for governor tomorrow and win handily. Most importantly, he can be THE GUY. By that I mean he can be the guy to bring UT back from the dead. He pulls that off-and early returns are indeed promising he can pretty much tell DW how much money he wants. Any balking from the AD would bring out angry fans. We can only hope that CJH is going to play the long game, and I believe he will.

And I’m sure he would love for that to happen too. Finescum the crap stirrer. He hates that Tennessee finally has their crap together and isn’t a dumpster fire anymore and he is good buddies with Saban and Sankey along with being Bummers number one fanboy so we shouldn’t expect anything less from him in trying to bring us down.

He is just hoping. I have a good friend that attended school at the same time as Finebaum. He says all Finebaum ever did was complain about UT. I don't think he has ever liked UT, even when a student.

Instead, he has become the biggest saban schill/enabler on the planet.

I wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire.

Well he's paid like a low level coach. So there is that.

I actually tried to watch the Finebaum show today.....There are some very dumb sounding people calling into that show....Several did talk about Tenn/Gumps, but most seemed to talk to him like they were old pals about nothing of interest...

Our coach is going nowhere, but to the top of the charts...

Can this alumnus not go a week without stiring up crap?

Tennessee had better come up with more money for Heupel. If we beat Bama then the money had better flow for Heupel. His salary is among the lowest of all the SEC coaches.

Like it or not, if you are talking about him and what the blabbering talking head said, then he’s done his job.

Not as worried about CJH as I am of losing our OC or DL coach. Possibly DC as well just to have continuity next year. I know give Banks a hard time, but I feel he’s done pretty well with limited resources on defensive.

Garner isn’t going anywhere. Yes Golesh is important but it’s Heupels system. I am sure he can find a good replacement. Who knows? If Golesh takes another job he might get Lebby back.

Golesh has done a very nice job calling plays. May be the BVS in me, but we all remember the Larry Scott debacle.

We're going to lose Golesh, it's just a matter of when. And that's fine. Heupel is the reason this offense is great. I would expect him to promote Halzle and keep on rolling. That's not a shot at Golesh, who deserves a HC shot, just that Heupel has given him that ability and will do the same with JH, who is also talented. Then he'll find another talented young coach to replace JH at QB coach.

I think Garner may be on his last gig. He and his family love Knoxville and he's too old to really pursue coordinator opportunities at this point. He may have finally settled in to accepting that he's one of the best DLine coaches in America and just finish out his career that way. Similar to the way Art Kehoe settled in as one of the greatest Oline coaches for 30 or so years.

As for Banks, I doubt he's leaving, but if he does, that job will be far more attractive than it was 2 years ago. I trust Heupel to make a good hire.

To be honest Finebaums finest hour was when Harvey Updyke called in outing himself on air for poisoning the Toomers corner trees. Paul's decision to turn in to authorities that the guy was so specific his claims had merit. So they did investigation and yep it was true. So yeah his show is terrible and his best moment wasn't any opinions on SEC programs or analysis. It was just taking a Gumps bitter call that ended with Roll D@$& Tide! 😂

Outside of that I don't think anyone has said they listened to Finebaums show and said that was enlightening.
