Are you?
Do you remember the concern some Americans had about Japanese buying up property (maybe iconic landmark-type buildings) in the 1980s?
Yeah...that's the gist.
Japan is on the list still.
I think that will be same with China down the road.
It seems to me a lot of the concern is based on an assumption that a Chinese business is a front for the Chinese government and that business intends to harm us because of that representation. I don't know if either of those has been proven conclusively. I would hate to see our freedoms Limited for an unfounded fear.. if it is indeed unfounded. When or if their economy comes crashing down, with the hopes they'll have to dispose of the property for far less than they acquired it? Maybe.
Have to see how things shake out here after inauguration day and into next year.
Yes was very interesting how the Crow viewed some of those lands.Yes, the article on Hugh Glass turned out to be a bicentennial tribute to his harrowing ordeal. Interestingly, Jedediah Smith was also badly mauled by a grizzly in Wyoming within about six weeks of Glass's near fatal encounter. For anyone else who may be interested in that piece, the link is The Odyssey of Hugh Glass: A Bicentennial Tribute.
Given its focus, this particular article may or may not be of interest or relevance to you, but here is the link to an article on sites that indigenous peoples regard as sacred in Big Sky Country: Grandeur of this Land - Big Sky Journal.
I will have an article published in the Winter 2024-2025 issue of Distinctly Montana entitled "Extreme Weather Events that contribute to Montana’s Reputation for Legendary Winter Weather.”
