They're sitting at 28 currently I think for this class. Means someones gotta get cut loose for HT to go there.I don't think it's just that either. I think it on,y would apply if they'd have left 3 on the table. If they did, they could back count three of their EEs from this year. That would give them 28 best case scenario.
One way to solve this is a hard 25 signees each year.
It does seem strange how many players they appear to be taking. I just looked it up, they took 20 commits last year which makes it appear they can take more than 25 this year. They are at 28 commits right now.
Tennessee took 23 commits last year. How many reaches were in that 23, I don't know. We have 21 commits right now counting the Henry decommit. Part of the concern is the Sgt Carter Class of 2017 when he took 28 commits.
You might know better then me. But, I thought since they were in the same year that it is technically back counted. It wouldn’t be an initial counter.
15.5.1.10.1.3 Exception -- Incapacitating Injury or Illness. [FBS] A prospective student-athlete or student-athlete who, prior to participation in athletically related activities, becomes injured or ill to the point that he or she apparently never again will be able to participate in intercollegiate athletics shall not count toward the institution’s annual limit on signings. (Adopted: 4/26/17 effective 8/1/17 for signings that occur on or after 8/1/17)Every player counts as an initial counter at some point unless they are a walk on and have been on campus for longer than 2 years. The medical retirements don’t count against our 85 number but they still count against the 25 when they initially came in. London and Christ counted as well. There is no way around it other than paying your own way for 2 years.

Pretty sure one of the articles about it said UT was getting the initial counter back. If so, I'd assume is under this provision. I'm not an expert though. This includes practice so it only applies when the player never recovers from a high school injury or is in some sort of accident.
Good find though.
