'21 FL DT Marquis Robinson (Mizzou commit)

I think we’ll be surprised how many true freshman “studs” become available after buyer’s remorse (otherwise known as Spring practice) sets in. Not to mention high end options who gave it a year or so and drop on a loaded roster.
I can see that. We will at least get some depth.

We did get a lot out of guys who weren't necessarily stars like Payton, Terry, Turnage, Hadden and Mitchell (was good in the Pitt game will help more this season)

Even a collection of guys like that again will help.

Bru McCoy and others hopefully.

Guys that can contribute. That's who we'll be searching for. Not sure any stars will be out there, but if they can come in and plug a need, actually play, then that's what we need. I was just saying we won't take players unless we think they can do that. You don't fill the roster to just fill the roster. Anyone we take, the coaches will believe can come in and challenge for playing time, IMO. But I do think there's a real possibility that we've seen the majority of the big-time transfers already hit the portal for this season. I think we'll see some guys that can contribute enter by May 1st, but I'm not as confident we'll see the guys that could be game changers enter the portal. Hopefully I'm wrong because getting a big-time player from the portal would be awesome. I get why the coaches have adapted the strategy they have, but it still sucks to see other teams own the portal while we've done nothing. Now we just have to hope we get some good players hitting that portal in the Spring, and that they pick Tennessee.

Hey we might have the pick of the litter in the spring since most everyone else is pretty loaded up.

It's naive to at least not be a lil concerned with all the defensive transfers we've brought in,only to watch them choose someone else that's inferior to us.I can't make much sense of it,but I ain't worried let's say that,I got enuff sh*t in life to worry about lol.Its obvious they were interested and just came up short, but if this continues next year etc maybe hit the panic button, but it's really odd if u think about it to miss on all these transfers, esp Defense.Verse and Neyor just sat a sour taste in folks mouths I think and it's kinda spiraled from there

we didnt have room. kid had a spot then he didnt, was my understanding.

I think Freak should make a requirement that posters must visit the recruiting forum at least weekly for 6 months before they can make a thread or a post. Would save a lot of useless drivel.

I agree. They make it difficult to navigate threads with all of the crap posting. The simple act of lurking to learn has been lost lately.

Don't think that's right. He had an offer, then visited right before the start of classes. He was enrolled and in the UTK directory, he just needed to decide to show up for classes. He did not, and apparently is now going to Missouri.

They wanted him, he visited, but decided to go elsewhere. That's a(nother) miss, no way to spin it.

What did we miss? a backup DT that hasn’t played and wants to go to a crappy program…more like he missed

It was reported that we wanted him if he would come in the spring but was going to go in another direction if he waited….. doesn’t make him seem like that high of a priority to me.

He was a 4-star true freshman who RG recruited at Auburn and wanted here. The Auburn staff was super high on him. Surely you’re not turning your nose up at that sort of prospect?

Lol dude he went to Missouri of all places, just connect the dots

He wanted to wait to make a decision, we said **** or get off the pot. Wanted him for Spring. He went to Misery.

Not sure what else needs saying. We have self imposed schollies and are at the 85 mark. Weve got four -five Grade A or B walk ons, who we will count in Spring.

Only real big misses were the DE and the WR.

All these transfers for Eli tells me he's desperate. Going into year 3 and still worse results than the guy he replaced.

I agree. Probably going to see more of this type of thing when coaches get on the hot seat at major universities. "Spend" as much money as possible to try and buy a few more wins and buy you another couple of years. Maybe even get a contract extension out of it.

Having read a few interviews with transfers, I think the offense we run makes this defense super undesirable to play in. I still believe in our defensive staff and their recruiting abilities, I just think it's a hard sell for transfers who are looking for instant success to make their NFL dreams come true.

Yes AP said this and said that if we couldn't get him for the spring we probably wouldn't pursue him any further.

I don’t blame staff. A guy going into their second year missing spring is big to their development. If you are not a athletic freak then your making a big mistake not going through spring. He got blinded by Ohio St lies and ended up at the lesser place
