'19 FL OL Chris Akporoghene (Tennessee signee)

He originally came to the US looking to play BBall, then given his frame quickly immersed himself into the football side. Callahan likes his upside, but likes McBride better at this point in time (who also started out as a BBall player).

Not saying he wasn’t but he wasn’t as physically gifted as Akporoghene. Dude came in already with low body fat but I agree that he isn’t technically as far as Carvin was.

Why would we automatically assume that Carvin was farther ahead technically? I would rather have a kid with one year of IMG coaching and competition than 2/3 years in Memphis public schools.

I can see big Akong and Mcbide as our future interior guys. They are both strong as hell. And will be made into some absolute Bulls in a few years.

He is very similar to Carvin in terms of size and strength. And Carvin struggled mightily last season with the mental side of the game. But we somehow know that this kid will be a stud immediately?
Any freshman who plays on the line is gonna struggle mentally with the type of speed and defensive stunts in the sec. I’d rather have a guy who’s physically ready and learning on the job than a Butch Jones’ linemen getting blown off the ball even when they’re in good position.

I meant from a fundamentals standpoint point. I just remembered hearing Carvin played with pretty good fundamentals and that Akporoghene has to still learn seeing as he’s only played three years total. 1 year at IMG doesn’t mean that Carvin wasn’t a more polished prospect just bc he played in a Memphis public school.

Looks like a pro wrestler.

Good golly grief he’s huge. (Preemptive twss)

I really don't think CP and staff would waste a scholly if they didn't think he had a great up side. It may take RS year but I think he will develop into really fine OL and if he nothing some really good depth we need so desperately. Just my humble but accurate opinion.

That’s a natural hoss! Already strong! Sit a year with no pressure and have the fundamentals ingrained and you have the beginnings of elite. This is what Pruitt is used to looking at on the teams he coaches.

Yup. At worst tell them to grade the road in front of them. Run blocking shouldn't be that difficult.
