'22 FL OT Brian Grant (Tennessee signee)

Have my degree from UT but played two years at D2.

Was using my personal history with weight as a reference. Not just mine, also kids I coach.

My bad. This Grant kid is probably 400lbs by now easily. And a 5 star. We'll win ships every year he's here. 1st overall pick whenever he leaves.

someone is ALWAYS gonna take a swipe here - LIKE your moxie

WELCOME TO VOLNATION !!

Still has one more year of .high school football. Has all kinds of time to physically mature.
We don’t need him to play immediately. Let him - gasp - redshirt and backup for another year. What should matter is what his body looks like in 3 years.

That’s why OL recruiting doesn’t pan out like we expect. Some people physically mature early and look all world coming out of HS. While others continue to fill out until they’re 20-21 years old without lifting a weight. Then you add college strength and nutrition programs. By the time you are looking at 2 upperclassmen, those star ratings may not make much difference.

The major development advantage of going to Alabama or Georgia is competing against NFL players in practice, and knowing that quality backups will take your job. That helps hone technique and motivation.

After seeing his tape, I like the get. I'm no expert/scout, but he already has the frame. Looks like his basketball time has paid off. Kid moves very well for 6'8". One thing I really liked is how he held his blocks and finished several with the defender pancaked. Shows aggression. I like him. Don't mind him taking a couple of years to round into form and add good weight. Linemen are almost always "developmental" for a year or two anyway.
