'22 FL OT Brian Grant (Tennessee signee)

I’m not trying to disparage this young student athlete, but in reference to everyone talking about his great footwork due to playing basketball, I read his basketball stats on one site that said he averaged 3.something points a game as a 6’8 junior. Now, the stats could definitely be wrong (especially in this covid year), but this isn’t Giannis on the court crossing over to football. His footwork should be better than a 6’8 340lb kid, but it’s probably just because he’s skinnier, not because he plays basketball. He can become an awesome OT for us, but it won’t be because of his basketball background.
Good footwork is more than just points scored, it’s also positioning for rebounds, and maintaining balance on defense.

I know he’s committed, but isn’t this the type of player that maybe Heup & Co, and staffs in general shouldn’t take flyers on in the future. instead of long term betting on one of these players, hold the scholarship for a transfer where you know you’re getting a good player.

I like how they’re taking a mix of both. Using the transfer portal to fill immediate needs while recruiting to future needs. Playing the long and short games at the same time.

You are pretty much totally disparaging him.

Where are we getting this 280 mark from?

I'm 6'6 and weighed 293lbs officially in mid June... This boy ain't sniffing 250lbs right now unless something drastic happened over the past few months. Like medical concern level drastic. I think this is probably why none of the blue bloods are sniffing here... He is tiny.

As a former DL, all you guys talking about him adding 50+lbs of weight in the blink of an eye obviously have never gained weight to play scrimmage football. If he really does add 50+lbs of weight in the next five months, he won't be in Neyland, he'll be in a bed with tubes littering his body. It just ain't that easy.

They supposedly put him on the scales and he weighed 280

I'd believe the scale. Now where's the scale where this 280lbs happened?

Cause it sounds like the 6'8 basketball prospects who measure 6'5 and change when it's official.
Get your legal representation on the trail for that scale. Awaiting results of your noble investigation.

His body style is very similar to Dan Skipper who was listed at 6’10” 295 coming into college.

Okay... i hear what you're saying. BUT.!
Consider this. Dennis The Worm Rodman is regarded as one of the best all around defenders in NBA history. Jordan callled him a remarkable athlete. Now go look at his career scoring average...

All these arm chair wanna be recruiting services are killing me with their petty views. 6'8 ALMOST 300 right now. 2 sport athlete. Exactly what this staff wants to build on. He wants to be here, so STFU wit all the bitchen.
Why do you have such a problem with people having opinions that differ from yours?

Were you all SEC or were you that guy guessing weights at the carnival?

Have my degree from UT but played two years at D2.

Was using my personal history with weight as a reference. Not just mine, also kids I coach.

My bad. This Grant kid is probably 400lbs by now easily. And a 5 star. We'll win ships every year he's here. 1st overall pick whenever he leaves.
