While I want to hate on CUM for that article, honestly it's probably something that happens all the time. And if we had room for only one QB this year and the situation was the same but with Taulia, then I'm not for certain it wouldn't have played out very similarly.
TENNESSEE COMMIT BRIAN MAURER
Its time to play big-boy ball. Maurer has been the underdog through much of the Elite 11 process. He didnt have the big offers early like the others on this list. His junior year production isnt eye-popping. He exceeded expectations at the Elite 11 regional and Elite 11 Finals event. Now hes an SEC commit fresh off a pledge to Tennessee and hes got the same expectations as everyone else. Will he rise to those expectations?
247Sports Composite Pro-Style Ranking: 18.
24/7 ranked Maurer 5th out of 12 for Sundays performance at the Opening Finals.
No quarterback saw his performance improve from start to finish more than Maurer, a Tennessee pledge. The Ocala (Fla.) West Port signal-caller really started warming up at the end of the camp hitting multiple throws down the field. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Maurer just needs to work on his overall consistency, and unleash those wow throws more frequently.
