'19 FL QB Brian Maurer (Tennessee signee)

Taulia put up like 3820 yards last year lol with 36 TDs to say he is overrated is a stretch. I do like Maurer though.
Yeah, Taulia is definitely not overrated. I probably like Maurer more because he may have a higher ceiling IMO. But I would certainly be happy with either or both.

Edit: This is where he killed it in 7v7 and jumped from like 23rd to making the elite 11. There's at least 3 separate segments of him in there. 1 from his past that was posted in a tweet earlier. 1 of the 7v7 and the meeting with Trent where they tell him he made it.

I don’t think both, but I like Maurer more. He had a better elite 11 and has a higher ceiling. Taulia had a great year and would be a take, but my bets are he ends up at Bama. Can’t see him going anywhere else if Bama has room for him.

I agree if we take a full 25
If we take 25, the last 3 will not be anyone that is committed or is currently being recruited. We can only take 22 of those guys. But we definitely don't need to start a numbers debate again so I'll just leave it at that and walk away.

I really like this kid...I can't wait to see him make the dumbasses in this thread look even dumber..It is really easy to pull for a kid like this...gamer.

yeah, great video. kid seems to be a real competitor. made the biggest jump of all the QB's and did hear that one guy right saying he looked better than any of them at whatever portion of the camp it was? high accolades for sure.

and can we all agree now, not getting Calzada isn't a bad thing....lol.

Kid just became my favorite commit of the class... Kid has the "it" factor you look for in a QB. Looking forward to him being a Vol.

If you haven't watched the video, it is worth your time.

I think that BM may be more valuable to the '19 class as a recruiting voice with other commits and potential recruits. He appears to be working hard for us. For that and the man that showed up in the 'Elite 11' video,I think we have what we need.

I honestly never liked Calzadas throwing motion. But that is just me. I left that on the Calzada thread a few months back.

I don’t think he signs up for that production. His family does their homework. They might notice that Baton Rouge is the graveyard for quarterbacks.
this. and while there may be some sane logic behind those two qb's leaving, and it really not being the end of the world, you still have Marcus Spears on SEC network talking about his alma mater being the Cleveland Browns of college football. the percepiton is not good, no matter how much rationale people want to put on it, rightfully so or not.

so, i say....

Would think so. Was just basing it off that dude that coach the C brown QB that mentioned Bama thought LSU was a threat

Love this kid already.

Just another reason I don't put a lot of stock in HS stats including Int's. Doesn't sound like he's got much talent talent playing with him, just like Shrout. Camps that both performed well at, help kids like this more than anybody else. With Shrout and Maurer we have 2 high character QB's yet to fully tap into their full potential. Both will are very easy to like and to pull for. Kudo's to our staff for recognizing that and landing both of them. QB recruiting is the biggest crapshoot of any position and see many lesser rated guys outplay the higher ranked ones. Can't wait to see what Shrout and Maurer do in their Vol career's.

That's true but Taulia plays on a really good team and was a loss to Hoover away from winning state .Plus against the best competition in the state., But no taking away the stats Taulia put up last year. He did struggle in the rematch with Hoover, but he should put up big Numbers again. Then they add Paul Tyson and Hewitt- Trussville to their league this year. There isn't a better 7-A league in the state. So whatever stats he puts up will be with a great team and against great competition. I would love to see what Mauer could do with a great team surrounding him. Probably put up similar stats and would be much higher ranked than he currently is.S till think he's a consensus 4* before it's said and done. But give me Mauer, who has a chip on his shoulder and has overcome a rough childhood. If somehow we can get Mauer and Taulia then that's awesome. But having to pick 1, I'll take Mauer without blinking. JMO..Don't think anybody could go wrong with either of them. Kids like Mauer are easy to pull for and want good things for. Glad he's ours!!

Agreed, and no clue why LSU has struggled with QB development. Miles was very stubborn about his offense and Coach O has no business running a program like LSU. I thought Matt Canada would turn that around for LSU. But hearing him talk as Maryland's HC fill in for Durkin, he came across as a damn idiot. No reason for LSU to have such bad QB play year in and out. Don't expect Coach O to make it to the end of the season. Lane would be a perfect fit for LSU and there's no doubt he would get great QB play. Just for conversation sake, If they did hire Kiffin that's the only way I see him ending up at LSU. Coach O is the reason you don't let players influence who you hire, plus they got desperate when Jimbo and Herman turned them down. I'll be shocked if Orgeron finishes the year as LSU HC.
