'22 FL SDE Gabriel Jacas (Illinois signee)

Hopefully we land him. He's not an edge guy, but will play inside. Rodney loves him so that's enough for me.

This tells me AP has ZERO confidence in our finish this recruiting cycle.

Would not get all worked up about talking heads OPINIONS.

"If" Jacas proves he has no facts. It would appear that Jacas is a player down our board but above our cutoff line and he justified us working him late. Hope we get him and he works out if that is what the staff wants.

We could have been hot on Agu a year earlier and he would still have his relationship with Lea and some pretty good morals. Don't think timing changes this one. My opinion.

Big whoop on all opinions.

Can someone remind Hubbs, Ummm the staff has been on the job 10 months. Overcoming in-state collateral damage by past three coaches can’t be undone in 10 months! What they are doing for this cycle, considering all factors, is great work! Give them some credit!

Lol. All of them are skating the line to not upset their sources. But it is a bad finish to ESD to miss on so many. But they still have time to fill needs with the portal and others not signing early.

“Bad finish to miss on so many”??? ESD is tomorrow! Wow so many people jumping to conclusions! How about the everyone wait until dust settles to assess? 🙄

Ok. Do you want me to post every name we missed out on tomorrow after they have signed? It’s obvious we missed on a lot. I’m not down on the coaches, but they need to be better and close. That’s all. Sheesh

We could say we missed on guys that were almost all committed to other schools, but again they were committed to those schools for a reason. Luckily there is the portal, and they can still chase guys like Pearce in February.

I do agree that it starts instate with the 23 class, if you sign the majority of those really good instate kids you are almost a shoo-in to get in the top ten, especially how there are better football players every year in TN HS. A good sign starting out the 23 class is they just got a commitment from a top player out of GA that had offers from everyone. And Luttrell, plus we are getting Caleb Herring. A very good start.

It amazes me that people aren't allowed to post an honest assessment. I posted my displeasure with some of the defensive calls in a couple of games and was attacked like a piece of road kill by a pack of jackals. It's OK to question. It doesn't mean you want to fire everyone. In these games, I can guarantee you Banks wasn't happy. Why should we be? I'm sure Heupel and crew won't be satisfied with this class. They'll be thrilled with the ones we got but will be disappointed with some of those misses. They know that have to do better.

It's going to take time to change the reputation in state. Kids walk around in UGA or Bama gear now. Even OSU hats. Not to sound like an old man, but when I transferred to a high school in the early to mid 1990s in Georgia, those kids were wearing Tennessee gear. We lost that bad@ss perception we had during the Fulmer peak years.

Logic is so refreshing.

I don't think Hubbs is bashing them truly. A lot of these in-state guys were already committed or deep into their final schools before he even got to spring practice. That's just the reality of the situation. Him being hired so far after most coaches are hired really put him behind the 8 ball for this class.

Next year is a different story. Only 2 of the top 10 in state are committed, and we lead for the top kid. One of those two committed is a tight end, which we just got a really good one a couple days ago, so not worried there.

No joke. Everything is not always perfect and I’m sure the coaches are even upset. Watch yo mouth Invol! No questioning ever!

After everything this program has been through, we need to learn to not live and die with every recruit and every recruiting class.

We’ve seen highly ranked classes, and the coaches who secured them ended up failing miserably.

At some point we have to chill out and enjoy the ride.

I think it’s more on the program than Huepel or the coaches. We really need a bolder, more robust NIL setup. I thought ever since watching the VQ ad that the Spyre thing seemed like it wasn’t much more than advisory for kids to stay in compliance. Need to go ahead and cut ties with Spyre and save the money to bring kids in. We need to be thinking outside the box on NIL, not bringing in an extra set of eyes to make sure we’re staying inside the lines.

Exactly! This was what I was referring to in less words!

Yes please do so everyone can get their panties in a wad! And while you’re at it go ahead and list all the players in Alabama or Georgia or Florida that are going other places that those schools “missed on”!

Why do we need to be "more successful in state?" While it's great to pull in state kids, you can find talent anywhere. How about we focus on bringing in highly talented kids, regardless what state they are from?
