Florida falling apart

No they aren’t smoking us.

I will not argue because I don't think you've made a compelling point.

I do have a question which can help me understand how you approach your conclusions...how is the data "total points" valid but the data of "total commits and distribution of stars" spin? Aren't both quantifiable data points which exist irrespective of inherent bias the reader (us) has?
I respect both of you guys' views, I just find it a bit ridiculous to have a thread called "Florida is falling apart" when they have the No. 4 class on the Composite. Yeah, they've had a disappointing season but it's about what alot of people expected looking seriously at what they had coming into the year. Mullen really did a number on them with his total lack of effort on the trail.

I also don't think anyone would argue with me if I said we were smoking the team 8 spots behind us on the composite, which happens to be No. 20 Kentucky. McDad, I don't want to kindle the age old argument about the validity of the recruiting rankings, I recognize the experts miss some guys and overrate some guys, but in the aggregate, the national champion almost invariably comes from one of the dozen or so rosters that have at least 50% 4 and 5 stars, so the gurus do know more than the average fan and I respect their opinion also.

I agree the thread title and premise is hyperbole.

I might disagree with an assessment of smoking a team in recruiting who is 8 points behind us. It depends on the points, total counts, stars, etc. Which is why I asked why your data point valid and my data point spin.

None of us can accurately say why recruits are ranked or how their points are tabulated. We certainly don't believe the process is scientific or objective. I don't have an issue with the recruiting services or points assigned. have accepted the process is imperfect and biased. I don't believe an objective way exists to rank recruits, to be completely honest.

So why is your chosen data of points valid to form your opinion, but my data of count and distribution spin?

It’s become not at all surprising that a lot of the rational and common sense posts about our football program have come from fans of other programs. We are not in a bad position. Far from perfect, but we have an identity, a strong administration backing and a coach who has won more big games in 2 3/4 seasons than all the coaches we’ve had combined since 2009.

UT has its best Xs and Os offensive coach since Coach Cut, and for the first time in a VERY long time, what appears to be an elite Athletic Director.

Can I ask a favor? With it being the start of the college basketball season and all, can you do that thing?

How can Florida possibly survive with .... <checks notes> ... the #4 recruiting class in all of college football?

I wish Florida were falling apart, but I think Napier inherited a bit of a mess and is slowly cleaning it up. They've not been great this season, but I think the real test for Napier will come in Years 3 and 4. No one ever should've expected him to be doing well in Y1 and Y2 given that Mullen whiffed on recruiting his last few years.

Next years schedule is brutal and we don’t even know the layout yet . Patience will be needed.

You don’t have to, you could throw Hubert a bone if you wanted. Maybe Bill Self? I’m just a big believer in tradition

In fairness, despite my disdain for Roy, he was a HoF coach by anyone’s definition.

Mick Hubert was a hack play-by-play announcer who stole Dick Enberg’s ”OH MY!” catch phrase, then preceded to wear it out for three decades.

That said, F ‘em both.

The difference between us and Florida in this year's recruiting rankings is not much. Their average is 92.42, ours is 91.70. Kentucky is 88.88. There is a bigger gap from us to Kentucky than us to Florida. And I think all of us assume Florida isn't going to hold on to all those top recruits.

Uh, it is actually 1-11, because you will beat us with your 5th-string back-up RB that has to fill in as a QB.

Posting this before any self-loathing Vols fans do.
the fact that you are going to 5th string RB instead of oh, I don't know, 3rd string WR, is telling.

people keep saying there is no curse against Florida, but with how consistently we play like crap against them there is something to it. 5 different coaches, 3 decades, or more, same results.

we haven't won back to back since 2003-04, before that? you have to go back to the 70s.

its not self loathing, its be able to admit to the plank in our own eye. we can't keep ignoring it like most of our fanbase wants to do, and we certainly shouldn't be picking at the splinter in Florida's eye.

Like last year?
Please stop. I’m 30 years old and we’ve beat them 6 times in my lifetime. A few of them I was too young to even remember. They own us and it doesn’t matter how bad they are or how good we are bc we get their best game Of the year and we play our literal worst every.single.time.
