There one time they put 50 something on us when the old ball coach was there, you talking about a long ride back, this is not the year to go if you take losing hard, i take it hard even if we are a 28 point DOG .

Oh come on, have some faith TP. Who knows what is going to happen.

BTW..if you have a crystal ball...I need to find out the lottery #'s for Tennessee.

We are staying in St. Augustine because all the Gainsville hotels blacked out their points stays.

Driving and Mabry thing is? Sorry don't know much about Florida tradition.

Tampa is world renowned for its gentlemens clubs. Actually, Dale Mabry is not the only strip where the talent is strong in Tampa. We have a Hard Rock Casino too if that's your thing. Steak houses here are tops too.

In 2011 I traveled and stayed in Gainesville even though I live in Tampa. The people arent all that bad. Good hotels right off of 75. Any time you start hanging around the frat area, you should already expect idiocy.

Outside of the stadium and even in, most folks are cool. Most welcomed us, others you just walk away.

All that said, if you wanna make it a long weekend, some of the top rated beaches are in the Tampa area and the weather here is hot enough to enjoy them. Summer rain showers are done by September too.

Tampa is only 2 hrs from Gainesville, so it is really your call on if you want to drive after a game. If you have never been to the swamp you will likely be exhausted after the game due to the heat and humidity. It truly is a whole nother animal down here.

Bring sunscreen, glasses and a fan. hydrate

LOL Me too! They have water all over. Ya just really don't want to ruin your time becoming a heat casualty. Some folks really just don't think it is that bad. But it can come on really quick.

Have fun!!!

I went there only once, and trying to find a place to park was the scariest part. Driving through that neighborhood across the street from the stadium, most people just flipped us off or tried to charge extra. But, I happened to just walk up to the front door of a house that had plenty of parking. They were having a party, and actually insisted that we park there and pre-game with them. It was pretty awesome. That was Fulmer's last year...we lost baaaad.

They have set up some satellite lots that worked perfectly. traffic is light but catching the shuttle can be a pain. Thats to be expected when you have 90K people trying to leave. I set up and tailgate. and make sure there is enough to do the same afterwards.

Great gameday atmosphere..Florida catches a lot of flak for stuff that happens to our fans in the swamp, and yes they do have some fans that can make that experience rough but for the most part it's not that bad if you can stand 99 percent humidity and hope u can get a seat on the west sideline otherwise your gunna burn up. Contrary to most of the opinions on here and maybe I just got lucky but I've had good experiences from mostly students at the games rather than fans just coming in to watch the game, we usually tailgate close by the stadium with the students and its been great as long as u have thick skin and can talk a little trash. Enjoy the day and bring a change of clothes you should have a good time hopefully it can be a close game! P.s prepare for a lot of people yelling gator bait at you, that's there go to line lol

You must have gone to a different Gaynesville than I did. Those people are the most red neck, uniformed, self overrated ignorant people on earth. Too bad they exist in the SEC.

You misspelled Gainesville, and I'm calling BS on your so-called experience.

I've been twice and had a good experience both times. Stayed in Valdosta, GA. It makes the drive home on Sunday a little shorter. Also parked at the mall and took the shuttle from there, and that worked out good for us.

I've been to gville more than Knox unfortunately cuz I live in south Florida...but I have several highschool friends that go to UF which always makes the experience better...except for 2 years ago I sat in the student section with my manning jersey on didnt go over well with them but that was to be expected..for the most part the true locals and students are not as bad as projected on here unless you egg them on or go by the frat houses and they been liquoring up. I'd say ever school has crappy fans but the good out weigh the bad

Well now, I didn't once judge the people. Gainesville isn't much different than the rest of the state outside of the larger cities.

As far as "redneck" I must say I have seen much worse in TN. Then again I see nothing wrong with a redneck.

The Hilton Convention Center is where we normally stay but they aren't letting us use our corporate rate this year and I don't feel like spending $400 per night on Fri & Sat. I've booked a room in Ocala but still working on G'ville.

If you are driving from TN, on the river in Jacksonville is a nice place to stay; its about 90 minutes from the stadium and that much closer to home on sunday.

When I lived in Charleston we used to always stay in the Ponte Vedra area. Not a bad drive to G'ville and makes the trip a lot shorter on Sun. Just go slow through Starke!

Gainesville cops are very strict about walking around campus with open containers.

If you're drinking make sure you're in a bar or at someone's tailgate.

You aren't kidding. 2 years ago my brother and I were going to the UT/UF basketball game. The cab dropped us off on a corner near the arena and we each had a cup in our hands. They were empty and we went to throw them away and there was a cop standing there. He gaves us more crap for about 5 long minutes but I think he was just messing with us.
