Florida is in harm’s way if

I said it before, with the way they got rid of McElwain they will struggle to find a good coach. Sure McElwain lucked his way into 2 east titles but the fact is he had 2 and then one bad year and the. Instead of just firing him and paying the buyout, they weaseled him cause he said something stupid.

Now think about that, you could go to any number of schools that just fired their coach and fulfilled his contract with the buyout. Or you can go to Florida that seems like a great job but if you have one bad year and haven’t won a national title, they may nitpick something to fire you and pay you nothing.

Florida messes up bad by weaseling McElwain out of his buyout and letting be such a public spectacle. I think they have to go for someone below the Campbell/brohm/taggart level to find a coach willing to take that chance with their career.

That's ridiculous. Anyone with a brain knows that the only reason that we won two SEC East titles the prior 2 years is because the rest of the East completely sucked. Add to that the fact that our offense has been habitually rated 100 or worse and no one is surprised he was fired.

Ya but it sounds like your taking his arrogance and douche personality completely out like it didn’t exist

Anytime the media questioned play calling asked if he would take over or anything he didn’t like he was a bit of a dick

Plus he acted like it was all the players fault those ****ty ass plays weren’t working

If he wanted to keep his job and actually have a chance at a good third year he should of fired Doug Nussmeier

Nussmeier has now been fired by Bama Michigan and UF the man will struggle to find any kind of OC job. He hasn’t had an offense inside the top 100 in 4 frickin years

Not to mention Mac let the defense go to hell we literally haven’t signed any blue chip DTs or LBs since he got here

Oh yea and he never seemed to appreciate will Grier even tho every gator fan out there knew we finally had what we been missing for years imo he thought Del Rio was every bit as good and let him walk

Don’t get me wrong he screwed his team when they were in the middle of a great year but he could of been back halfway thru 2016

You’re wrong on both counts.

UF didn’t fire McElwain for cause, otherwise he would have received zero dollars on the way out the door.

And we did ourselves a huge favor getting rid of that guy.

Any incoming coach with half a brain knows you don’t make up stories about players receiving death threats, then offer nothing in the way of details or information to your superiors, while at the same time making UF’s offense under Muschamp look dynamic by comparison.

Every article I could find with regard to McElwain's firing suggests it was with cause. None of them can even clear up the details of the firing and what money was exchanged if any. I'd love to read your source material if you have some and it proves otherwise.

The Mullen hatred makes no sense. Before Mullen they were a perennial doormat along with Ole Miss and Vandy. They have been at least relevant in most of his years there since his hire in 2008.

We’d get a solid hire in him also.

State was decent in the 90s. They were a yoyo team, taking a down season or two to reload between most of their winning seasons.

Where does the gator's AD get off stiffing the buyout? So McElwain made a mis-step on how he reported death threats. How is that grounds for gators paying only 25% of their contractural agreement?

If I'm a top tier coach and looking at Fla's treatment of McElwain, I'd hang up on them if they called. There's lots of well paying jobs out there.

Got plenty of good wide receivers on the roster already I could care less about this class which has actually stuck together pretty well for a program that fired their coach what a month ago? Lol

Props to Thomas Goldkamp for this article tho **** needed to be said and foley needs to take a lot of the blame for where we are the cheap bastard

Florida is not entitled to elite status, it must earn it

Not just the WRs - the article says QB Matt Corral visited Alabama -- the QB position is pretty desperately needed at UF -- you think he will flip ?

I said the same thing after the firing went down.

No coach in his right mind with options would go to Florida. Fertile recruiting grounds can't make up for getting stabbed in the back by the administration if you have one little misstep.

McElwaine is absolute trash couldn’t coach offense couldn’t recruit defense

Seriously take a look at the LB and DTs he signed since he got here 2 pretty important positions in the sec I’d say

I’ll do you a favor and save you the time he didn’t sign one worth mentioning NOT ONE

Maybe it will be hard getting a great coach but it won’t be hard finding one better then that goofy ****er

I think that Florida and Tennessee will pay almost as much or more for coaches as UCLA did for Chip. I know there are other factors than money, but enough money will almost always trump those other factors.
