Florida killing Virginia game thread.

To throw a fade right there was a bad decision. Virginia left some points on the field tonight. This could have been closer. Not the dominant win I expected. Virginia competed and I don't think it was a matter of Florida being flat or uninspired.
Florida was given 7 points and Virginia should at minimum had scored 7 more. This could have gone down to the end. Virginia at least should come away with this loss that they were competitive with an Sec and top 10 team. Something to carry forward year. IMO this game is a good indicator about how Florida would fare against Clemson. It would be a rout in Clemson’s favor.

No true Tennessee fan should concede this much. Their last two signing classes (including only the players who actually made it in) are not significantly better than ours. John Currie tried to hire Dan Mullen, and he chose Florida after Chip Kelly turned them down for UCLA. It sounds like you are suggesting that we turned him away or something.

Not saying we lowballed him but since it was a guarantee he was gonna wind up in SEC East with Grantham at DC, we should have made him an offer that wouldn’t allow him to wait out Florida. However, we have seen how the ponying up under Haslam wing has gone the last decade before Phil took over.

Wrong. Mullen never wanted to come here. He went to the school with a much more talented roster. No good HC wanted to follow what Botch Jones did. That loser dodo his best to destroy this program.

Mullen isn’t as good as some think he is.

He’s 55 seconds away from finishing 11-2 with a backup QB who hadn’t played much since high school prior to replacing Franks due to injury.

The hate for Mullen’s coaching pedigree is bonkers.

No Mullen hate. Just an opinion. Is he a good coach? Yes. As good as some make him out to be? No. He took over a team that had an elite defense.

Your post makes my case. It’s not like Mullen took over a horrible UF team and turned them into a dominant team.

First the fumble review no call and now this. SMH

Mullen is a very good coach proved it at Miss. St and proving it now. Pruitt it remains to be seen he did take over a worse situation than Mullen did but Mullen has skunked him twice now by 26 and 31 points. And Pruitt can never shake that Georgia St loss off him unless he wins the SEC

Dan Mullen does slightly resemble Randy Quaid (Cousin Eddie) when he was younger. I hadn't thought about it before seeing this thread, but I see it now.

Mullen inherited a 4-win team.

We had talent on offense at skill positions, but were lost for an identity. Mullen got them to be as productive as possible and he is quickly rebuilding an offensive line, which UF has not had in ten years. The team is improving every year.

Yet the two previous coaches there couldn’t do that...... meanwhile Mullen won big in Starkville of all places compared to their history.

All while partnering up with Grantham who is arguably a top 5-10 DC in the game....

It was hard to crown Mullen a “great” coach based on his time at Starkville. However given his first two years, he’s well on his way.

Urban won 22 games in first two years at UF
Spurrier won 19 games in first two years at UF

Mullen is on his way to 21 games in first two years at UF

He’s well on his way to being a great coach at big time football where “great” expectations are.

Guy didn’t luck into anything like people are acting.
