It was hard to crown Mullen a “great” coach based on his time at Starkville. However given his first two years, he’s well on his way.

Urban won 22 games in first two years at UF
Spurrier won 19 games in first two years at UF

Mullen is on his way to 21 games in first two years at UF

He’s well on his way to being a great coach at big time football where “great” expectations are.

Guy didn’t luck into anything like people are acting.

I do think Mullen has a better record here after two years than Pruitt just because offense was a major issue for us post Butch era and Mullen knew and is showing he can piece together an offense regardless of personnel.

He guaranteed Grantham would be his DC so it isn’t like we would be significantly less talented on defensive coaching from Pruitt to Grantham.

Personally to me, Mullen/Grantham > Pruitt/Chaney

Not saying I don’t want Pruitt or Chaney. I’m thrilled with them. Just my preference was Mullen and Grantham.

Perine was a very average RB against SEC defenses. He looked all world against UVA tonight.

Because you say so? I will watch the games anyway, just in case... you never know.

The amount that so-called Tennessee fans are willing to concede on VolNation is nauseating. It's such a defeatist attitude. I will say it again, Mullen is not recruiting significantly better than Pruitt at the moment.

Your post makes my case. It’s not like Mullen took over a horrible UF team and turned them into a dominant team.

I'm sure you had Florida penciled in for two 10+ win seasons and two NY6 bowl wins when Mullen took the job.

Half of this site doesn't even think we're going to beat Tennessee let alone land in the top 10 at season's end.

Seriously, I want to know. I don’t give two cents about coaches on other teams, even rivals. Mullen hasn’t done anything slimy like Urban that I know of, he also doesn’t turn into a complete crybaby when he loses like Saban. So seriously, I don’t get the obsession. We should focus on our own issues.

Thanks GSU and BYU, we can finish 8-5 this year instead of 10-3 with an extension for Pruitt.

Going 3 years without raising or extending a coach (which means bigger buyout) is nice.

Pruitt is 9-9 and building a great team. Defense is going to be a blast here soon. The offense is coming on strong, and winning the last 5 games with a struggling quarterback corp. They got better as they went though, and now we’ll have it turned around next year with our offensive line. We have some great running backs that is going to be a lot better than this year. Pruitt isn’t worried about recruiting, because he is getting the guys in to fit his system. That’s going to be the difference in winning.

Because of the last 2 years against Mullen.

Because of Pruitt's inability to have his team prepared for the first half of the season.

And the recruiting sites disagree with you.

Not only is that not correct , it will not be true even next year. Florida will lose at Neyland stadium next year. Yes, this is guarantee, you heard it here first.
