This storm is massively powerful. At this very minute, its eye is sitting off the northeast corner of Puerto Rico. The entire island, which is over 100 miles long, is suffering at least Tropical Storm-force winds. It's gotta be a good 300 miles across, just the area with TS winds or stronger. Beast.

Not seeing how the SEC Network will show 3 noon games -- with only 2 channels

I believe it's 400 miles wide, or the distance from Tallahassee to Miami

OT...

LW what does the gas situation look like up there? We're headed up tomorrow morning, but worried it may take a while to get fuel to come back down once it passes.

Haven't heard about stations running out of gas in Orlando just yet.

We gassed up both cars and a couple 5 gallons containers yesterday, but I heard the wait was much longer today, and it's only going to get worse.

The earlier you can get on the road tomorrow (today) the better. The 11pm updated track didn't change much at all.

Hope everyone stays safe through this mess. I think we can al agree that the safety of families, and friends are what is most important at this time. Stay safe everyone down that way.

It's a bit challenging when you live in a state where getting to high ground means going to Georgia. :)

Y'all be safe, make the safe choices even if they're a pain in the butt, get to high ground.

Whether you are a Vol fan or Gator fan(or any school down there),people's lives are more important. Praying everyone can get through this safely.

I'm a little surprised that any football games will take place this weekend. Seems to me that the resources should be better deployed for this possible disaster.

Im on the west side of Florida right now. Nobody cares. Florida was built for this. The brunt of the storm will hit swamp land. It will drain quickly. There is a chance that Jose right behind Irma does a circle and hits the same areas again and that would be quite a hit, but this is not Harvey. Tennessee may get harder then Florida TBH.

I don't know man, one of the rules I like to live by is, Never freakin' underestimate a cat 5 hurricane. They're like tornadoes, their sustained winds are almost that strong...but they're 100 miles wide and they don't ever skip or go away, just keep barreling forward...and the tropical storm force winds extend even hundreds of miles beyond that.

Andrew totally devastated Homestead back in the early '90s.

Cat 5s are monsters. Even on the Gulf coast, hope you'll take precautions. Wishing you safety.

And this storm is bigger, stronger and faster than Andrew. Crazy
