Florida Still Not Impressing Me

Lets face it, the Gators are the national champs now 2 out of the past 3 years but lets look at it this way. They still don't impress me, yeah they have beaten us year in and year out and pretty much ran the SEC but for goodness sake, I sure would like to see Florida actually play a worthy opponent. To me their two national title games opponents weren't nothing regardless of what they accomplished during the season. Ohio State was a doormat and Oklahoma was pathetic which was a sure shoe in for a couple of Gator National Titles.

One more thing is I am sick and tired of hearing about Tim Tebow and how he is the greatest college quarterback in the history of college football. Not hardly folks, he has yet to break records of past college quarterbacks so all those fans you can get over yourselves. Another thing is Hey Florida play some worthy non conference opponents. I mean this Citadel, Hawaii, and Toledo, and South Carolina State etc. etc. crap is getting old. If you really think you are worthy to be the best, then play against the better non conference opponents and then we'll see how you fare. I don't know, they must be scared or something.

I'm sick of hearing about Tebow and the Gators haven't been as impressive as I expected on offense. I don't know if it has to do with injuries but I expected their offense to be more explosive at this point in Tebow and Harvin's careers. That said, their ability to win the big game has been impressive and their D is much better than I expected. They handle pressure very well and make very good teams look awful when they play them. The times UF hasn't been as impressive to me has been against the teams like Ole Miss or Vandy during the regular season. The key to beating UF is for your D to control the line of scrimmage and very few teams have been able to do that. Tebow is certainly not the best QB in history but I will admit that he's one of the best competitors I've ever seen. His will matches that of the greats like Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods and he is a physical freak. All that still won't translate to NFL success at QB, though.

I hate Florida as much as anyone but Tebow is a good QB and seems to be a good person. He is a leader on his team something we were surely lacking this past year.

I will agree at least somewhat about Ohio State. Oklahoma was a decent team though. Was the big 12 overrated this year. Sure but that doesnt mean Oklahoma wasnt good.

Records dont mean much. Which would you rather have a QB that can put up good numbers or someone who can get you to win the NC?

As for non conference schedules. We played UCLA, UAB, Northern Ill and Wyoming. That doesnt exactly scream tough non conference schedule.

Right. Oklahoma wasn't overrated at all. They had the highest scoring offense of all time. If anything, they were underrated because of their defense which played well against UF. The reason UF won that game was by an awesome performance by their defense. It was very comparable to the performance by the Ravens defense against the Titans. OU got yards but UF's D didn't break and made big plays when needed.

Wow... Just what does it TAKE to impress you?? The Gators have been unreal the past few years and as much as I hate 'em, I darn sure respect what they've accomplished... Hopefully Tennessee can have the same sort of run once CLK gets the ball rolling.

I will agree that neither of UFs recent NC teams has been as impressive as the 98 UT team or the 2004 Auburn team. The 06 UF team comes close, though.

Florida has played as good of opponents as we played with FSU starting their 3rd string QB...just sayin

I, apparently erroneously, assumed this was a basketball thread when actually clicking the link. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered.

What are you smoking?? I would put either 06 or 08 team up against both of those. I think our 2006 team resembles the 98 UT team for sure. Great defense, not overwhelming on offense.

Last time I checked FSU and Miami weren't exactly chopped liver for OOC opponents.

:eek:lol: Of course you would but that doesn't mean you'd be right.

Can you guys just have a combined group therapy thread for those who would prefer to ignore the objective facts concerning the Gators and instead find ways to believe that their own "has been" also-ran team is somehow still relevant?

Coming up with lame "Oh yeah, well, you aren't that good" theories about the Gators shows only two things. First, you are such a homer you can't see what is right in front of you about your own team. Second, you are such a homer that you can't even for a moment acknolwedge that the competition is simply better than you are at the moment.

The part where they lost games would make that problematic. That UT D was much better than either of the UF defenses. Ditto Auburn. They both had far more NFL type defenders.

That is a nice way of saying you are a damn Pinball wizard if you can't acknowledge how good Fla is right now....deaf...dumb...and blind. Florida is badass right now, and it isn't going to be any better next year.

They would have trouble stopping our running attack. But... Chavis still wouldn't know what to do with Tebow.
