Florida Still Not Impressing Me

They would have trouble stopping our running attack. But... Chavis still wouldn't know what to do with Tebow.

Al Wilson would have known what to do and our wheels could have gotten to the corner with theirs today.

Can you guys just have a combined group therapy thread for those who would prefer to ignore the objective facts concerning the Gators and instead find ways to believe that their own "has been" also-ran team is somehow still relevant?

Coming up with lame "Oh yeah, well, you aren't that good" theories about the Gators shows only two things. First, you are such a homer you can't see what is right in front of you about your own team. Second, you are such a homer that you can't even for a moment acknolwedge that the competition is simply better than you are at the moment.

Read through the thread next time. The OP got blasted. Now if you're referring to my post about 98 UT and 2004 Auburn beating either 06 or 08 UF team then you need a dose of reality.

I will agree that neither of UFs recent NC teams has been as impressive as the 98 UT team or the 2004 Auburn team. The 06 UF team comes close, though.

this years gators squad was more than impressive. they could go toe to toe with either the 98 vols or the 04 tigers, and probably win. and no, the 06 gators does not come close

What are you smoking?? I would put either 06 or 08 team up against both of those. I think our 2006 team resembles the 98 UT team for sure. Great defense, not overwhelming on offense.

the 06 gators were one of the weakest national champions in recent memory. the 98 vols would beat them.

That is a nice way of saying you are a damn Pinball wizard if you can't acknowledge how good Fla is right now....deaf...dumb...and blind. Florida is badass right now, and it isn't going to be any better next year.

You know, I worry that they will be somewhat lackadaisical, thinking they get like some kind of bye to the c-ship. Seriously, they need to work. Tebow can't just go around and give speeches. Hope they realize its the same road, maybe even tougher in places.

Not the whole thread, just the numbnuts who began it, really. and maybe some of his synchophant minions.

Is Tebow even allowed to play pinball by his church?

The point I was making was the similarities with the 98UT team and the 06 UF team. Just enough offense to win and a smothering defense. The 08 Gator team I agree would probably beat either the 98 UT team or the 04 Auburn team.

I, apparently erroneously, assumed this was a basketball thread when actually clicking the link. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered.

I skipped it for that very reason. However, after seeing the guru's new thread, I had to see for myself.

Either of those teams front 7 would have dominated the line of scrimmage versus this years Gators team. Both of those teams were much more physical with much more NFL talent. Both of those teams also had amazing running games and would have been able to control TOP. Tebow would be taken out of his comfort zone against either team.

Just like Alabama's D this year was supposed to do right?? Give me a break.

Alabama's D is nothing on either of those two teams. Neither is Alabama's offense. You need to look for a better point to make.

Wow, you posted a lot of stats that were obtained against the likes of The Citadel and Hawaii. You're delusional if you think UF would have been able to put up numbers like that against either team. Heck, OU's defense held them in check and so did Ole Miss. Neither of those D's could compete with the previously mentioned teams.

My point was what everybody was saying heading into the SEC Championship game against then #1 and undefeated Alabama. Florida won't be able to move the ball. They are more physical than Florida. Blah, blah, blah.

I don't think everyone was saying that. Maybe a couple of folks. I saw numerous posters to include myself that though Gators would have no problem with Bama. Even told a newly graduated Gator boy here at work.

Wow....Syracuse, Houston, UAB are powerhouses along with Miss State in the SEC Champ game along with FSU's 2nd string quarterback. Very comparable to #1 and undefeated Alabama and the Heisman Trophy winner on the most prolific offensive team in college football. I see your point now....it is becoming clearer.

no they weren't. Most assumed that UF would win and secure a spot in the BCS Championship. The main question around here was who the competition would be.
