I didn't get to watch the game but I listened to it on the radio. Do we have a chance against the Gators this year?

A chance yes...likely win....no. We aren't grown up on the lines enough to beat most good sec teams.

It was one game against Montana. Montana had like 10 guys in the box, no team is going to rush great with that many guys defending the run. This was an extended practice. Relax.

wait, so are you saying we didn't do so well in what was essentially a practice?

...that doesn't sound too much better

Yes we have a chance. There's always a chance. History isn't a good indicator however.

Florida looked sharp tonight, much better than they did at the end of last year.

Yeah, but if not for that who is to day the pass would have worked

Not really. Their offense consists of throwing curls and to RBs out of the backfield. It is nothing special. Their D's weakness (the secondary) wasn't exploited because FAU's QB had 5 passes coming into today's game. They were 3-9 last year, and FAU is even worse this year.

Brantley had 2 INTs. We'll see, but I'm not sold on him at all yet. Demps/Rainey were solid but that's to be expected against a garbage Sun Belt team.

Won't pretend to have watched a second of the game, but both UF and UT have work to do.

This was against a team that just began their football program 6 years ago.

It's too early to tell at this point. Then again, Spurrier would beat up on the sisters of the poor for two weeks prior to thumping us on a annual basis also.

You are so right.I hated those days.

Gators fan here... You obviously didn't watch the game... The flat pass to the RB was CONSTANTLY open because FAU failed to cover it time and time again... Even the commentators were saying UF was right to utilize the flat play again and again if FAU wasn't gonna bother with it.

Don't you think UF was being vanilla, like a bunch of other teams yesterday? It's FAU; we GET that. But most Gator fans, like myself, had no idea what to expect yesterday. Also, yes, the secondary is the defense's weakness. But it might not matter if opposing teams can't block the front 4. FAU couldn't block a simple 4 man rush; last year, UF couldn't get ANY type of a pressure on the opposing QB, even with a blitz.

You guys have Cincinnati next week; UF has UAB. Both teams shouldn't have much trouble; Cincinnati can score, but comon, Tennessee should put about 50 points on that defense. We'll really find out more about each team in 2 weeks, when the Vols visit the swamp.

Yeah, I like how all those Vol fans defend their offense and defense saying it was vanilla, and then say, oh Florida's offense is simple and doesn't look tough.

Florida didn't show much.

They practiced some movement at the LOS, they worked on the no-huddle, and they took what FAU gave them, which was the short stuff all night.

Things for UT fans to think about legitimately:

1. Florida has dynamic running backs and a pretty dangerous running game.
2. Florida's OL allowed 0 sacks and looked better than last year.
3. Florida's DL, even without Floyd playing, was insanely disruptive, especially in the interior. The front 7 as a whole was very impressive. FAU had 30 yards rushing on 30 attempts.
4. Florida's secondary is aggressive, but inexperienced, although they held out RS Jr Jeremy Brown due to injury.
5. Florida's passing game is 10x better than last year, completing a number of downfield passes on third down allowing UF to finish 7-10 on the night after only converting 38% of their 3rd downs last year.

Bottom line: UF is better than 2010. Clearly.

FYP. Not giving up a sack and disrupting the flow of FAU's offense isn't noteworthy. If Brantley can exist, I think y'all can be decent.

Not really, Florida has been showing the dink and dunk all offseason. They love screens, curls, and getting it to the RB out of the backfield. It's not a down the field passing attack because they still don't trust Brantley.

BING! This is the key imo. Everyone must remember UT is talented and big on the line, but VERY young. It showed last night when UT's young lines were facing juniors and seniors. Yes, it was just Montana, but those young men have been playing together for 3-4 years. UT will get there. I am certain CDD and staff will coach'em up all week. They will be ready for Cincy.

Speed, a solid looking defense, that's what i saw. That team they played was severly outmanned so it wasn't much more than a glorified scrimmage. There is no denying they have a lot of talent and speed.

Does Tennessee have a chance against Florida? Yeah run the ball better than Florida and they win.
