I watched the first half of the Florida game (replay yesterday). The defense looked really good. It'll be interesting to see how good they are against a team that can pass.
A work in progress sounds right for the O.
Demps and Rainey were effective when they got on the edge. There were lots of yards on those swing passes out of the back-field. Florida had nothing down the field in the passing game, nor was there an inside run game.
In the first half, I only saw one inside run for significant gain (Last play of the 1st QTR, delay/draw for about 7 yards). I'd even go as far as to say if you only totaled inside hand-offs, Florida probably had no-gain or minus yards rushing.
UAF was clearly no match for Florida. How Florida will stack up against BCS talent is yet to be seen.
Great post. We actually had some decent inside runs, but also some where Rainey and Demps got stuffed. Gillislee is probably our only back that could consistently run through tackles. Demps and Rainey are speed demons, and to be utilized to their full potential, you need to run sweeps and swings to get them into space where they can excell.
Our Passing Game actually was open; You need to watch the first 4 drives again. Brantley had some good throws, but still the amount he has improved will be determined when Tennessee comes to town on the 17th.
