This team...all of Rick Barnes teams have the potential to go all the way. Unfortunately it requires a complete team effort. Barnes purscthe players in the opportunity, but it is always up to the players to execute.
You have make shots....last night nobody on team could make shots
And most were shots they hit high percent......It happens Go VOLS....

As great of a coach, as Rick Barnes is there seems to be the same glaring flaw every single year; a lack of guards that can create by themselves. Ziegler only hits threes from the top of the key as the shot clock is expiring and only gets to the lane for layups when we take our big men out of the paint to free him up. That flaw has been overlooked this year because of how many great lobs he’s thrown to the bigs, but teams in conference play now have a lot of film on that. Mashack is a straight up bad shooter. Gainey has his flashes but is anything but consistent. Okpara and Milicic play hard but are also wildly inconsistent. Just like teams from the past we’re gonna have to rely on excellent defense (which we have) and streaky three point shooters to win us big games. But on the bright side I think we have the best true shooter since Chris Lofton in Chaz Lanier and a PG that may end up being #1 in franchise history for assists and steals. Last night we saw the worst this team has to offer… but I think we’re yet to see the best.
I whole heartedly feel that was an anomaly for Lanier. Statistically it plays out that way

Except for Chandler. And Bone. Springer. Punter. Schofield. Knecht. Lanier.

ok, fine. Proclaiming this to be a non-tournament team after one loss is the dumbest thing I’ve ever read on this entire site.

I would literally bet my life that this team makes the tournament.
NOwhere did I say this is a non-tourney team. If you could comprehend. Ill try again for you and the other smooth brains.

You need GOOD post play in ANY tournament. EVEN the NIT. I hope that clears it up for you!! If you think a .500 conference record is out of the question, I dont think youve seen the competition in the SEC this year. Road wins with this team are going to be few if any.

I think I'll save my money and suspend my subscription for a little while.

I can catch the game on the radio and just wait to see if they are fool's gold or not.

Teams that are #1 seed, national championship contenders, may have off nights and lose a game here and there, but they don't EVER get obliterated and embarrassed like that. All you have to do is look at the rebounding disparity 55-38, and you will see that we were outworked, outhustled and played with a lack of intensity and effort. It's one thing to have an off shooting night and lose, but it's another thing entirely to get outworked and outcompeted. There is no excuse for being outworked and outhustled and allowing yourself to be manhandled.
I would challenge you to find a game where a team shot ~20% and was not dominated. The rebound deficit was partially due to the brick walls we built; defensive rebounds are significantly more common than offensive

You just knew that the vultures would be circling on VolNation last night.

It's as if some people never played sports or even watch with half a clue. Games like that happen to the best of teams, and it's one game where good teams learn from and then wipe the slate clean and move on, which is what Barnes & Co. will do.

The Vols were just flat, and when the shots weren't falling early they pressed, creating a snowball effect. There was no lack of effort, just lack of execution. The shots were there that we usually make regularly, and the misses gave UF a ton of runout opportunities leading to easy buckets. They are an athletic group with size and hammered the boards hard on both ends.

I believe we'll see a much different team on Saturday and a different story when Florida comes to TBA.
Yep, I remember a #1 Houston team a few years back got beat by 28 I believe, it happens. I think Okpara had an OK game the rest had their worst game of the year by far, in unison.

Was our 14-0 start just fools gold making us think we are better than we really are? When you look back at the non conference schedule, yes Illinois was a good win, but none of the other teams we beat were that good. I’m afraid we’re more in line to be a 4th place SEC team and 3 or 4 seed in the tournament rather than a top seed Final Four contender.

Schedule set up nicely. Now we see how it goes vs the top teams in the Country. Fla, Aub, Bama, Miss St, Uk,

Losing a game is one thing. If we had lost by 10-15 pts. that would be losing and wouldn't be too big of a deal given the road environment and playing another top 10 team. Getting obliterated by thirty, getting your rear end kicked without even putting up a fight, and having no competitive fire, and zero inside offensive presence is entirely something else. What we showed last night was utterly embarrassing!
Although this was the largest margin of defeat by the #1 team in the history of the AP poll, it’s still only one game. In 2009, Louisville lost at Notre Dame 90-57 on February 12th and was the overall #1 seed in the NCAAT a month later.

Not quite the largest. Close. The one in ‘51, and the one in ‘68 were larger.
