Football Scoop reporting Helton is out

Yeah but in no way can you ever count Florida as a win. I’m thinking 7-5 right now. That’s 4-2 against SC, Mizzou, Vandy, KY, Miss St, and BYU. That seems doable, albeit tough based on what we saw this year. I truly hope you are right but UF may only take a small step back depending on how many people leave early.

I would count Florida as a toss up to TN being a slight underdog. Florida had about 10 players suspended for a season and a good many of them will graduate this year along with the normal attrition. Hopefully some of their studs declare early too.

Coach is correct that we need talent, but to keep saying it openly doesn't help motivate the whole team. Self motivated players will use it as a challenge and play harder, but others will not. I think a lot of the team quit in this game for various reasons and that is worrisome. Hopefully coach learns how to lead all types of players to improve our team overall. I still believe JP will be a good coach, but he's a rookie and has to learn his new job to.

It won't be Freeze or Kingsbury. It's still 50/50 Helton is back. I don't expect it to be a splash hire though. If helton is replaced it will be somebody Pruitt has a history with.

With the schedule next year and the heavy turnover of starters for 6 of the teams we play (Kentucky, Florida, Vandy, Mizzou, MissSt, SCAR), I strongly feel that 8 wins will be the floor next year. OOC games are very winnable with BYU and UAB being the toughest of the four.
3 wins is the floor.

Whatever happens, Helton just wasn't a good hire, especially at the price we paid.
I am still trying to figure out what our offensive game plan was yesterday. It looked like couple runs and then a pass to try an convert. No jet sweeps, no screens, no working the middle of the field. Anyone could have called what we saw yesterday. Helton is as bad as his brother.

I just don’t see how you can judge Pruitt on much that happened this year. Yes there are some concerns and yes there were some good moments. Next year he will have his first real recruiting class and have a full season of experience as a HC and with all of the returning players. I expect to see massive improvement in the mental part of the game. Does that mean we will go 10-2 next year? No, 6 or 7 wins is likely as he will probably need 2 full classes to truly start to change this team and show big improvement on the field. We have to wait and see what happens. I’m not saying Pruitt is for sure the guy but we certainly don’t know that he isn’t at this point.
I agree 100%

While we're on the topic of Football Scoop, they are also reporting that Helton is a candidate for the Western Kentucky HC job (along with Hugh Freeze and others).

If we were to be in the market for a new OC I would go for Kendal Briles. Did good things at Baylor, then in FAU, And has Houston top 10 in total offense and top 10 in scoring.

Absolutely not. He doesn't run the type offense JP wants and Freeze's offense put's huge strains on the teams defense. Not to mention the SEC office would have to sign off on it first and then I doubt Fulmer would. Freeze will most likely be at Auburn next season.
Let me guess, Kliff Kingsbury is your guy? If so, his offense will hurt our defense just as much. I am not sure you have noticed but the offense we ran this year stressed our D just as much. 1st downs and TD's are required if you want to save the Defense, and as you know that did not happen often this year. Freeze will land somewhere and if it is not us then I hope it is outside the conference, because at some point the guys in B-town, AL will forgive and allow Freeze to coach in some capacity again in the SEC.
