Football Scoop reporting Helton is out

SIAP, but at the end of that article there was a P.S. that said Pruitt commented he will not fire Helton. TIFWIW

Freak, in your opinion do you believe Pruitt settled for him (and Sherrer), especially someone who is not more experienced than him to pose any "threat", or do you think because of the crap show embarrassment that was the AD and coaching search that there wasnt many options available and the options werent cheap considering.
I don’t get the impression Pruitt is the type to feel threatened by a coordinator, but who knows. It does seem like someone a bit more experienced might have been beneficial.

Hugh Freeze or Art Briles aren't in the cards for us, not with this coach and this AD. The university administration is in too big of a disarray to make any bold moves, even in the face of declining season ticket sales. That's the reality of things.

My fantasy - spread the field, fun 'n gun, fast break, game on skates, racking up 60-70 pts - Baylor 2014! With Pruitt fielding a strong defense that admittedly spends a little more time on the field than he'd like. Giving up a few more points than he likes. But hey - we're averaging 50 pts a game, so what the hell? heh

Alas, we honor maxims that harken back to helmets without facemasks. My fantasy will forever remain just that.. :::sigh:::

Nothing has been confirmed at this point. Not saying it won’t happen but be careful to jump on the latest rumor!

clam down this is crap reporting....we need new and totally different players...these Bama rejects from NJ and elsewhere need to go

Friend, Helton, Scherrer, and Rumph, should all be gone. The OL, Offense as a whole, QB play in a lot of games was not acceptable. Linebacker play, team tackling, and defensive play was offensive and totally terrible in the last two games of the season.

Exactly what kind of season were you expecting? Were yoy one of those that expected 8 +/-1 wins? If you were you set yourself up for disappointment.

I actually didn’t have super high expectations. I was hoping we’d improve throughout the year. I also wasn’t anticipating getting blown out in half our games.

Look, I’m a realist, but let’s not put lipstick on this pig. This season was bad. The team didn’t improve throughout the season. I did expect better.

How is it going to look bad on Pruitt? If Pruitt kept him you would say Pruitt should of made a change at OC. Some of you people just want to stir it up. No wander people make fun of the Tennessee fan base.

What are you talking about? I haven’t said anything bad about Pruitt. Is it your opinion that anything JP does is good?

Bring in Kingsbury and all is forgiven.

Bring in players that work hard play hard and give their all for TN and I think we turn this around

We had players that weren’t into it or didn’t buy into it. We could have had manning at qb and it wouldn’t have mattered with that o line

While I was hopeful the coaching staff would have been able to improve them more, looking back at other first year coaches trying to rebuild a program we didn’t do that bad especially playing some tough teams this year (and whether we like to admit it or not, Mizzo and Candy were actually not bad this year).

Next years schedule is easier. Hopefully the players improve and we see a lot of fresh new faces on the field that bust their tail

Take Mizzou's OC...oh wait nevermind
Chaney/Pittman Combo looks good if you want to get into a bidding war.
Grab the OC from Dino Babers or a Big 12 team.

Jimmy reporting he spoke to CJP and he said that he’s not firing Helton.

Wouldn’t be Tennessee football without a lot of fake news regarding football coaching jobs.

I would be more worried about the o line development than Helton. He doesn't have who he wants for personal. Not saying he will be good or not. But the o line is way more of a concern for me. Although he did have some questionable play calls.
