For the complaining fans...

I have a "win now" approach to college basketball. You don't build a program, you get players and a coach. Program building is for teams like Gonzaga, VCU, and George Mason. They have to build a team and compete when they get a couple of players and some upper classmen.

We were at the top of he conference. I'd rather stay there than make excuses about rebuilding.

We were at the top of the conference last year? I don't remember this, anybody else?

No. We were 7th in the league. That's the bottom half of the conference.

Why are you judging our program position in the league based on one "freaking" season? That'd be like judging a coach based on 15 games.

Of course lowering the expectation is what Martinites do.

Because that's where this team was. We were 7th in the SEC last year, and we lost our three best players.

And I didn't lower expectations. We should be an NCAA tourney team next year, and competing for an SEC title in year three. That's not lowered expectations. I understand where this program is. It was not in good shape.

And you can call me a Martinite. I particularly don't care. Because I believe he is the right man for the job, and is going to do a hell of a job basketball wise, while being an incredible representative of the university. If that makes me a Martinite, so be it.
