For the RPI guys on the board, what does this do for us!?

AP, Oakland...2 games that hurt the rpi pretty badly. AP finished 13-20 or something like that.

yea they hurt.

as i said though, we dont win this game tonight, or probably half of our sec games, without those losses.

those losses made the players buy in to what CCM was selling, when they did that things changed dramatically.

Yeah definitely. Gotta beat Vandy and then let the chips fall were they may.

Overall we should be proud. UT was picked to finish 11th. And we know that's not going to happen.

i feel very confident that if we beat vandy, and win 2 in the sec t we will be SOLIDLY in the tournament.

If every Vol fan doesn't leave TBA hoarse Saturday, it will not be acceptable.

I hope so but this will not be the first game when i think,"ok, this will be the game that the fans will errupt." I have been disappointed on every count. As always i'll be yelling, GO VOLS!!

I would think we would need Bama to lose as well. With them only having 6 losses as well and holding the head to head tiebreaker over us they may be the 2 seed, unless we have a better record vs common opponents. Not sure how that works.

It's kind of odd that the SEC went to non-divisional play yet everyone played the same schedule they would have if we still had divisions. Bama benefited from avoiding having to play UK, UF, and Vandy twice unlike us. I don't follow the Big 12 enough, but I don't think their football divisions are indicative of their basketball schedule.

I still just don't see this. 10 points at max. RPIforcast will update tonight and with only one game left it should be a pretty good indication of how high they can go.
I'll stick with 15+ and if I'm right I'll show you my algorithm on Saturday.

if uk beats florida, and we beat vandy, and bama wins at ole miss

theres a 4 way tie at 10-6 for 2nd place

the tie break is record vs tied teams. we are 3-2, vandy 3-2, florida 2-2, bama 1-2

so then a tie break with us and vandy. it goes head to head we are 1-1. it then goes to record vs #1, neither of us beat UK. it then goes to record vs 4(you skip 2 and 3 because thats tennessee and vandy), tenn is 2-0 vs florida, and vandy is 1-1.

therefore tennessee gets 2, vandy 3, florida 4, bama 5

Bama has their weird, scary looking cartoon face guy, and lsu apparently has some obese opera singer to distract free throw shooters.. TBA needs an advantage like that..

We have the blue hairs giving them the evil eye....talk about nerve wrecking.

Which gets back to my question, where do you think we need to end up to make the tournament?

I'm thinking top 50

Who knows. I am of the belief that the committee takes who they want and then justifies it however they can. Of course there is a ceiling to how bad your RPI can be, but just getting to a certain number may or may not mean anything. But at least in the 50's they got a chance.

exactly. the track record says 60's you can get in, but anything higher is a VERY slim chance at best.

anything less than 60, and you have a very good chance.

From Matt Stewart who called the game on CSS:

Matt Stewart‏@matt_stewartcss

Don't care what the RPI says, @Vol_Hoops looks like NCAA Tour team to me, won 3 straight, 7 of 8 and 9-3 since starting 1-3 in the SEC
