For the ***** whiners….

At UT? Probably Hurd... then he got coached down. Before that probably Berry.

Pretty depressing looking at UT's 5* players since Berry.

LOL... I didn't remember until I saw it but Rivals actually had Tillman rated 2*.
Hurd wasnt NFL ready before he got to college, Berry maybe. But even then did he have the strength ?

Who was the last true 5 star who came to college ready for the NFL ?🤷‍♂️
Well Derrick Henry averaged 11 YPC as a freshman, so I'll go with him lol.

Chubb or Gurley possibly too. Barkley? Zeke? AP?

Thinking of skill players - unlikely anyone in the trenches or a QB. Julio Jones? Crabtree?

Henry is possible and Gurley out of that list. In fact I would say Henry is the only one that was close to Bo and Hershel really... Maybe Jamal from a physically ready standpoint.

Berry wasnt a freshman in college and neither was Tebow lol. But yes I was there when that happened

I didn't mean to join the debate, just made me think of it when EB's strength was mentioned. I graduated in '08 and loved watching him play.

Arriving at the same conclusion is not a sign of conspiracy. No one would claim the sites follow Texas A&M anymore than they do the rest of the SEC (minus Vandy). Yet, A&M just had a number one class.
Not claiming a "conspiracy". Just recognizing that a main "resource" for the recruiting sites is watching what successful programs and recruiters do. Not knocking them for it. I can't remember the exact number of HS players each year but there are thousands. The recruiting sites simply don't have the time to truly and accurately assess that many players.

Jimbo Fisher has a very good reputation as a recruiter. He's won several conference championships and a NC. The guys he eventually won with whatever NIL help they got were pursued by all the top tier schools which validates the ratings. It isn't just one team all that often. But if Bama, OSU, UGA, et al

Yes, people should be worried about the number of 4/5 star players that we have, because it's proven to be a good indicator of success. No indicator is perfect, but good luck winning at an elite level without consistently landing top 5-10 classes.
Sort of. It is a consistent predictor for Bama, UGA, OSU, and Clemson. But then you have Cincy, Oregon, Penn St, Michigan, Washington State, UCF, TCU, Wisconsin, Washington, etc who have been in the top 10 recently that are not perennial top 10 recruiting programs.

Again, just not that hard to predict that those 4 programs are going to be in the top tier and then give their recruits the benefit of the doubt. After the obvious... the predictive power of the rankings isn't as good.

I was too. The whole stadium went "ooooooh"
Tebow was a phenomenal college player. And Berry could literally do it all as a DB...cover, speed, hit, ball hawk. Literally was everything you could want in a DB. Haven't seen a DB in college as good as he was since he left and there have been some really good ones.

I was in the end zone for his pick 6 his freshman year in that damn stadium too.

Hurd was more ready when he arrived at UT than when he left. He was extremely strong and fast. He was very agile for his size.
I cant disagree with that but I don't think I would put Hurd on a list with Bo and Hershel as far as day 1 out of high school being ready for the NFL. Henry for Bama and Jamal Lewis/ Berry is about all I recall that is possible. Maybe Megatron

Hurd was not ready for the nfl when he got to college. He is playing a totally different position now in the nfl. While he was strong and fast he wasn’t physically or mentally ready for the NFL. GBO!

Most kids aren’t nfl ready out of high school but nutrition, strength and conditioning, coaching, etc are getting to be a lot better now days particularly at some places like IMG.

Putting stock into an evaluation of potential talent and where a kid might end up going to school are totally different.

And deciding you put stock in one analyst's skill in one area, while putting little stock in his skill in another area, without anything more to support, is completely arbitrary.

It wouldn't do for me to be in a position to need continuous donation money from people like that.

That's someone who has never been told in her life to get bent, but desperately needs it to happen.
My State Farm agent even sends out birthday cards for our $3K annual business. I don’t think it’s too much to ask if someone is giving you $millions annually to get some personal attention. Obviously USC jr doesn’t really appreciate her patronage. JMO

Go ahead and compile a list of all the teams averaging 3 star players that have won national championships with the "right" players and post them up here to support your argument. Hate to break it to you but you can be highly rated and be the "right" guy.
I don’t believe anyone said they were mutually exclusive, merely supposing the importance of each.
