Even that is dumb if you know that they're Commodores because Cornelius Vanderbilt owned a ferry fleet that was used by commuters to get from New Jersey to Manhattan before the GW Bridge and the tunnels. He definitely had no association with an actual navy.
Well anything that recognizes retired vets or the military gets my thumbs up.

I don't like teams cynically using vets to try to get people to like them. If Vanderbilt really wants to impress vets (or Ft Campbell Army brats like myself) they would do something actually helpful for the veteran community, which is absolutely not the Vanderbilt way.

I wasn’t there yesterday, but was there in the 90s when DeNardo’s secretary got into a fight with one of our female fans.
I remember that…. Shortly afterwards she ended up working at the same company as my wife.
Me and a friend had to break up a pretty good scrap at the ‘90 game. We were on the top row at the 50 opposite the press box.
Words were exchanged, a punch was thrown and then an attempt was made to hit the guy that threw the first punch with a Crown Royal bottle missed and it went 7-8 rows down and hit someone…. Then the two went down on the bleachers swinging.
The cops never came up, but was watching as we separated everyone. I guess they didn’t feel like climbing up the stairs

You get mad when military aircraft gets to do flyovers? Military persons getting recognized on the field, in any sport? Military personnel getting to attend sporting events at no cost? Thank you for your service but seems kinda like a childish response. But hey man. You have that right to feel the way you do and so do I. Good day sir!!

I get mad when Vanderbilt sends me their "expected parental contribution" and it's the total of my dad's retirement savings from the Army. And when their hospital fails miserably in caring for my mother and my brother (they did cash the checks). They didn't care about our specific veteran's family, don't let them fool you into thinking they care about yours.

In a way, I feel sorry for the Vandy football team in terms of fan support. Even when they have good years, opposing fans typically take over the stadium.

A guy once told me that when Gerry Denardo was head coach, he took Vandys team to Bell Buckle for fall preseason training. One of the reasons was to prepare the team for the crowd noise at home games.

Since I bought my tickets ffrom Seatgeek, the Official resaler for Vandy, I received a survey on my game experience and was very favorable on everything but the extremely loud piped in music.

Dinardo and Hoolahan cost Vandy a ton of fence riding football fans

We should all buy season tickets to Vandie games and then sell them at a premium to opposing fans
Many do…I live in Bama about 100 miles south of Nashville and several of my Bama buddies used to buy season tickets to Vandy games back when Bama played Vandy every year. They are easy to sell since a weekend in Nashville is usually a fun getaway. All the good teams that play at Vandy enjoy a home crowd,

And you have that right. It’s a shame the hospital did that. Probably more out there like that as well.

We were behind bench with a lot of the player parents, had one Vandy fan raising hell above us for a while until it got tied at 17 then he bounced. I don’t think anyone got violent but I think a couple of mama’s wanted to at a few points. 😂
It seems every time I go to the game in Nashville, I see verbal altercations and twice I’ve been right in the middle of two fights. I wasn’t involved….. just right there when they broke out. I thought it was awesome back then, but I’m too old for that now 😁

Fighting sounds like way too much work these days.

I absolutely do not lol. First, the Vandy administration clearly just doesn’t care about football, at least not to the level it would take to field a respectable team. I think it’s just viewed as a revenue source on the balance sheet to them. There is no passion, pride or investment in the program. Even Vandy fans (all 10 of them) will admit that and complain about it. Maybe things are changing with this new AD they have, but if the people in charge don’t even care, why should I? And as a fan of their most hated rival to boot? Hahaha, no. I think it’s great!

And second, I have lived in the Nashville area most of my life. So yeah, I hate them more than most East TN Vol fans due to proximity and familiarity that has bred contempt. The 10 Vandy fans are smug, condescending jerks lol. Hating on UT is all they do, 24/7, 365. Just a couple months ago, I remember showing up to the VT-Vandy game this year and one of their old boosters or something gave me s*** and asked me why I was wearing a V-A-W-L-S hat in their stadium (literally spelled the name out like that as if he just made this sick, cutting burn). Pathetic lol. It’s like, one program has to represent this state of ours on the national stage and it sure as hell isn’t going to be Vandy, bro! Enjoy losing the ACME Weedwacker Bowl, though!
