Forget last year - Vols are ready for big things NOW....

I endorse this positivity. Vols over Mizzou and then Georgia, setting up ethical debate about TN vs Michigan in playoffs.

Viral news story as we learn Michigan sabotaged TN and Clemson last year...media milks controversy for all its worth...subtext is Milton coming back to haunt his old team.

I'll allow it. đź‘Ť
IF and I mean IF we actually got to Mich, we would beat them like a rented mule. Very hard row to get there.

Even if we beat mizzou and Georgia we’d have to win the SEC championship to even be considered for a spot.

I’m hopeful but…that’s a long shot

The most Tennessee football thing ever. Beat Mizzou and Georgia with Ole Miss beating Georgia this week then drop our final game against Vandy. I dont think I would ever recover from that.

Sadly, that is about what I would expect to happen.

BVS is a real thing. I'm shocked some enterprising therapists haven't started advertising on these boards.

As fans we can speculate about how things will shake out. As far as the staff and players I think Heupel and staff have the team focused ready to attack one game at a time. It’s a old but very true saying, I like how we are playing here the last 2 games overall. Offense and defense is both playing hard and giving great effort and it’s starting to come together. Everybody has bumps and bruises at the point but the good teams play on through it. GBO

Last season the Vols faded down the stretch with the South Carolina blowout loss and earlier loss to a great Georgia team. Hooker went down and high hopes imploded. In 2023, injuries occurred early and inconsistent offense and the 2 road losses to arch-rivals dampened the season.

If anyone looks at the facts, the 2023 Vols have dramatically improved and are catching two top 15 teams at a perfect time with prime time CBS games.

Missouri is an excellent football team with many weapons. However, they are not a juggernaut at home like one of the SEC Big Boys - and are beat up from the Georgia game. This will be a slugfest but the improving Vols can win in primetime.

While Missouri is better than last year - Georgia is not. They lost a key linebacker yesterday and lost Brock Bowers earlier. After another rugged game vs. Ole Miss - they are set up well for the Vols to blitz them in Neyland. They have a huge monkey on their back with their historic win streak - which carries huge pressure that is due to catch up in 2 weeks. The Tennessee crowd will be at Alabama decibel levels and Georgia is simply overdue for a stinker ballgame.

The Connecticut game was better for the Vols than an open date as nicked up players rested and the whole squad got to participate. The win over Kentucky gave road game confidence and Missouri will be frothing at the mouth for revenge for the Heupel recent beatdowns. They are talking on their message boards about revenge over the "Fat Man." Well Kentucky was jacked up also and rested after an open date while Missouri has key players like Burden nicked up. That was a night game in Lexington which is a tougher atmosphere than Columbia, Missouri.

Josh will unleash a prime time attack on Drinkwuss and have the Vols ranked 9th heading into a matchup that will knock the Georgia Dogs - defending 2 time national champions out of the playoffs.

Yes the Tenn-see Vols are vastly improved and are ready to kickass and take names in the SEC East.

Two games I am mostly interested in this week are the Ole Miss vs Georgia and our game against MIZ. I will entertain those 10 win stories when it is a reality and perhaps a possibility for more. Still, as you stated, MIZ will be a tough game. We need that Dline to come alive again and we need to stay locked in for every second of that game.

this got me to thinking so I looked it up on YouTube. Someone must have tampered with the video because that’s exactly what happened

Ratliff never made contact with Burlsworth before Stoerner tripped. It’s clear as day. I know you want to believe it happened, makes the story better. But it was just an unlucky play for Arkansas. If anything, the fault lies with Stoerner for trying to brace himself with the ball

I know you're trolling, but still have to respond: What are you, blind?

In this video, the ball is snapped at the 0:04 mark. Ratliff and Burlsworth make first contact at 0:05. After that contact, Burlsworth shifts his trail leg (right leg) way back to brace himself from being overcome by Ratliff's rush. Stoerner trips over that extended leg at 0:06. Stoerner reacts instinctively, reaching out with his hand to brace himself from falling; unfortunately for him, that hand has the football, which remains on the ground as he continues to fall backward.

Gravity did not cause that fumble. Burlsworth backpedaling and tripping his QB did. How much did Ratfliff contribute PHYSICALLY to that backpedal? Don't know. But mentally, 100%.

You'd have to be blind not to see that series of events.

Go Vols!

Burlsworth jumps back too quick and too deep, but not because Ratliff “blew him up”

It’s about time some chips fell Tennessee’s way. Hasn’t happened since 2008 when a 9-3 Tennessee team went to Atlanta. Take care of business against Mizzou and hope for Ole Miss to win, at least have the East on the line in Knoxville for the first time in a very very very long time.

Hence why every Vol fan from Bristol to Memphis, sea to shining sea, western and eastern hemisphere, needs to be a Kiffin and Rebel fan this weekend.

We need to play almost penalty free vs Mizzou because something tells me Mizzou will be so perfect as to not have a penalty.
And that's going to be one of the key factors Saturday. Banks has to recognize that the officials just will not call holding on the OL. That's become clear as the season has worn on. Teams know it now so they're holding with no concern about being flagged. I think it's why our pass rush hasn't been "getting home" for a while now. We'll certainly see a lot more of this on Saturday. Can Banks get creative and find ways to disrupt MIzzou without depending solely on the front 4? If he doesn't or can't, it's going to be a long day for the good guys.

Missouri reminds me of a better version of South Carolina. Before that game, a lot of folks were saying that Rattler was going to shred us…he didn’t. We got after him and made him uncomfortable all night. I look for a similar defensive game plan against Missouri.

Not necessarily. If we win out, and then GA loses in the championship game, there will be room for debate...warranted or not.
A debate we’d likely lose to Alabama, even if they lost another game. Alabama, Big 10, PAC 12 would be in and we’d have to jump Texas, other PAC 12 team, other two Big 10 teams, Florida State, and Ole Miss (who seems poised for 10-2 unless they beat UGA). A lot can happen tho. Just win baby. Even if we missed the playoffs we’d be one of the nations most respected teams at that point

Playoff is a longshot given that the Vols don't control their own Atlanta destiny and the number of one-loss teams (conference champs or otherwise) that can potentially exist on Selection Sunday. Tennessee does almost certainly control its own NY6 Bowl destiny, though, which would be a massive achievement for this program albeit one that leaves a huge "what if" of the Florida loss rivaling the South Carolina loss last season (though it sure is nice to be having this problem as opposed to bowl eligibility concerns).

It feels like either 9-3 or 8-4 gets this team to a Florida bowl which, while a step down from last season, is a fairly good season and leaves a lot of promise for 2024 and the expanded playoff.

You must not be looking at very good footage. Burlsworth is engaged with an orange jersey, then Stoerner trips over his right leg. It's clear on footage I've seen.
