Hmmm then you have 1 loss Alabama who beat us head to head in convincing fashion as well as they will be SEC champs if they beat Georgia so we would be out. And that is not a given Bama gets in since Florida St and Washington if they go undefeated take 2 spots and no doubt big 10 champ takes a spot. The outside shot depends on if Texas wins out and is Big12 champs they do that and likely would be in instead of Bama from winning on Bamas home field. We realistically have no shot of getting in unless everyone in top 3 and lower have 2 losses. Then 2 or 3 teams get in with 2 losses get in but its pretty late in season to have so many undefeated contenders and only 2 for sure face off and that makes it more complex because if a jumble of 2 loss teams the Big 10 unbeaten and their 1 loss team gets the nod. Stinks but thats how its likely to go imo.Even if we beat mizzou and Georgia we’d have to win the SEC championship to even be considered for a spot.
I’m hopeful but…that’s a long shot
If we win out & UGA loses the SEC championship there won’t be any debate. Bama, the team that just beat UGA to win the SEC, beat us, and is the only 1 loss SEC team remaining, will be the only SEC team considered for the playoffs. Not necessarily. If we win out, and then GA loses in the championship game, there will be room for debate...warranted or not.
Nice attempt at discrediting our 1998 team. Watch it again:Complete myth
Absolutely, and he said he was gonna get the ball back beforehand as well! One of the greatest moments in UT history. Billy telling the offense to be ready because we are gonna give it back to you!If I’m not mistaken that fumble happened because Ratliff blew his man off the line and Stoerner tripped over that lineman’s feet
I tell ya, if Kiffen and Milten can’t do it, noone can. Harbaw may stand in the way though. That McCourty kid is a pretty good qb.How ironic would it be if Lane Kiffen was part of the reason Tennessee gets to Atlanta then Joe Milton gets his legacy defining game against Michigan in the playoffs? I know it won't happen but man it would be full circle for both storylines. Almost too perfect.
Last season the Vols faded down the stretch with the South Carolina blowout loss and earlier loss to a great Georgia team. Hooker went down and high hopes imploded. In 2023, injuries occurred early and inconsistent offense and the 2 road losses to arch-rivals dampened the season.
If anyone looks at the facts, the 2023 Vols have dramatically improved and are catching two top 15 teams at a perfect time with prime time CBS games.
Missouri is an excellent football team with many weapons. However, they are not a juggernaut at home like one of the SEC Big Boys - and are beat up from the Georgia game. This will be a slugfest but the improving Vols can win in primetime.
While Missouri is better than last year - Georgia is not. They lost a key linebacker yesterday and lost Brock Bowers earlier. After another rugged game vs. Ole Miss - they are set up well for the Vols to blitz them in Neyland. They have a huge monkey on their back with their historic win streak - which carries huge pressure that is due to catch up in 2 weeks. The Tennessee crowd will be at Alabama decibel levels and Georgia is simply overdue for a stinker ballgame.
The Connecticut game was better for the Vols than an open date as nicked up players rested and the whole squad got to participate. The win over Kentucky gave road game confidence and Missouri will be frothing at the mouth for revenge for the Heupel recent beatdowns. They are talking on their message boards about revenge over the "Fat Man." Well Kentucky was jacked up also and rested after an open date while Missouri has key players like Burden nicked up. That was a night game in Lexington which is a tougher atmosphere than Columbia, Missouri.
Josh will unleash a prime time attack on Drinkwuss and have the Vols ranked 9th heading into a matchup that will knock the Georgia Dogs - defending 2 time national champions out of the playoffs.
Yes the Tenn-see Vols are vastly improved and are ready to kickass and take names in the SEC East.
It mostly depends on the surrounding teams. If 3 teams are undefeated and Georgia has 1 loss my guess comes down to if Texas wins Big12 with only the 1 loss. Then if Georgias 1 loss is to Alabama then Texas is in. If Georgias 1 loss is to Tennessee but wins the SEC then I think Georgia would get in.Most talking heads are saying a 1-loss GA team won’t make the playoffs.
Desmond Howard? Lol. Let me guess he has Michigan above UGA? If so why? There is an argument for Washington to be #1. But there is nothing to suggest UM, FSU or OSU being above UGA.Ap poll has them #1 for over 2 plus years straight. Cfp has downgraded them twice despite losing one game in that same time frame. If they lose one game this year they will be out. Not my opinion, it's ESPNs opinion. Desmond Howard on GameDay doesn't think they should be above st., Michigan, fsu or Washington
Nope. The SEC champ gets in regardless. It mostly depends on the surrounding teams. If 3 teams are undefeated and Georgia has 1 loss my guess comes down to if Texas wins Big12 with only the 1 loss. Then if Georgias 1 loss is to Alabama then Texas is in. If Georgias 1 loss is to Tennessee but wins the SEC then I think Georgia would get in.
Their argument is the last 2 years don't matter. Ga has a #100 strength of schedule, and to quote the cfp president last week they haven't beat anyone.Desmond Howard? Lol. Let me guess he has Michigan above UGA? If so why? There is an argument for Washington to be #1. But there is nothing to suggest UM, FSU or OSU being above UGA.
When ga loses to Kiffin, and Tennessee beats ga at home we get the tiebreaker. Missouri will lose to the Vols either way. The Sec and playoffs go through NeylandIf we win out & UGA loses the SEC championship there won’t be any debate. Bama, the team that just beat UGA to win the SEC, beat us, and is the only 1 loss SEC team remaining, will be the only SEC team considered for the playoffs.
