I know it's a new era, but I always thought Dan Brooks was one of our all-time best coaches. His resume for cranking out Defensive Tackles is insane. He recruited DT talent to compete with anyone. He is now at Clemson but coached at UT for 15 years.

Our desperate need for DTs and depth at DT make me miss him even more. It used to be one of our main priorities in recruiting every year. We would have beast after beast at this position and many of them went to the NFL and had long careers........

Dan Brooks should have been retained after Fulmer was canned. I was really hoping Kiffin would have kept him around. Clemson has the best Dline coach in the country.

I miss Monte Kiffin. He was a nationally recognized name that gave us instant credibility with recruits. I forget his name, but I miss our O line coach from Kiffin's staff too. I thought he did very well with what he had.

RB Coach Eddie Gran. I know he was only here for one year but the difference he made with Montario Hardesty was pretty incredible.

S&C Coach John Stucky: Back in the day he was the man and no team was better conditioned than his Tennessee teams!

Rodney Garner: Mainly as a recruiter. Our recruiting really dropped after he left for Georgia.

Monte didn't know how to coach college kids.

I don't how much coaching he did or didn't do. I do know that he's gotten plenty of highly ranked recruits to play for him. I do know that his defense kept us in games with Alabama and a Meyer/Tebow Florida team. He probably wouldn't have been a long term answer sure, but I do miss having coaches who are nationally respected and have a wow factor with recruits.

Couldn't give ya two thirds of a like so I rounded up.

Agree with 1 & 2.

Missing a Kiffen is like missing a case of the crabs back in the day.

Yes, while his defense kept us in the Alabama & Florida games, what happened in the Ole Miss game? Didn't a scat back get close to 300 yards on the ground and almost single handedly beat us?

That kid wasn't even on a draft board but after that game, he was on NFL draft boards and ended up at K.C. That game against U.T. earned him millions.

Dexter McCluster
Tennessee Game against the vaunted kiffen D:
Carries 25
Yards 285
Per Att. 11.3
Touchdowns 4

Dexter misses Kiffen as much as Oregon!

Actually just hundreds of thousands which will eventually be gone, probably 2 years after his career is over.

My bad. I will watch my language. I forget that women and children read this forum.

Is Dave Clawson on this list of forbidden names?

It's ok!

Dave Clawson and his zone blocking scheme should never be brought up on here. Oh wait! Damnit!!!!!
