Former D-Line coach Ed O to.......

I understand your frustration, some times you have to upgrade your staff every chance you get.. maybe we will in about 4 seasons ,lol

Lulz, trust me, my frustration with Kiffin and Ogre ended a long time ago. And what you see as an upgrade, I see as a poor business move. Kiffin and Ogre have been in the middle of more than one NCAA investigation. A successful program like Bama has no need to take that risk. Win or lose, I'd rather have CBJ and staff over Kiffin and his crew. I feel safer with that bunch out of Knoxville.

And FTR, I really don't get the "better recruiters" arguement with where our current recruiting class sits.

Kiffin and Coach O might get their rings afterall. Damn sure weren't going to get them at USC -- but as asst coaches at bammer, they will be more likely to get rings than to get fired.

You sir are damn spot on. We have a top recruiting class coming in. We were 5-7.

I don't think that's true. Lane was a thorn in Urban's side with the hasty remarks he made. He didn't go after Saban much if at all. Indeed stated Fla had the better players but Bama had the better coaches.

The Lane-Orgeron team will be a recruiting nightmare for SEC coaches seeking quality players, I doubt not. As position coaches they're darn good. Saban will control the loose cannon tendencies of these two, count on it.

I think what actually happened was Saban being smart as he is, realized that CBJ and Company are a heck of recruiting team. That it was only a matter of time before Tennessee returnd with a vengeance if they didn't watch out. So he's rolling the dice and getting these two characteristically questionable but otherwise very effective dynamos. It's a bold move that will either maintain the perennial power of Bama or blow up in its face. With Saban holding tight reigns to his wild horses, it will more likely maintain Bama's power.

On the other hand, if Butch Incorporated proves to be so successful in recruiting that not even Saban's wild horse can't dilute the effect, it's going to be mainly a Bama-Tenn. taking turns being the SEC champ thing.

Ala is already bout to close out their 3rd or so straight #1 class. There isnt anything that Kiffin and O could do to recruit any better. As long as Saban is there they are gonna get top classes. Kiffin and Orgeron will be trouble waiting to happen and Saban cant control what they do that he doesn't know about. Will be a matter of time before stuff pops up. Ala has stuff pop up without those 2 being on the staff. Its just a PR nightmare but wish nothing but bad stuff on the bammers. USC looked horrible on offense this yr and under Kiffin while at SC. Will say Crompton had a really good Sr year. But was that because of Lane or Chaney? Most Bammers dont like the Kiffin hire and for good reason, he is probation, coed and PR nightmares waiting to happen and if they add Orgeron it gets even worse.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think Bama cheats or any major successful D1 program for that matter. Their compliance office and AD are better at covering tracks than ours. Wish our compliance office and AD were less willing to roll over for the NCAA.

Wouldnt say that as many times as they have been on probation. But Saban has his life partner up in the ncaa that will make sure things get swept under the rug. If that whole textbook gate, the suit store and boating trips had happened under anyone other than Saban at Ala they would have gotten nailed for all 3 and not just the slap on the wrist for the text book issues.

I'm living here in Bama and they seem pretty happy about it. Granted it's not a scientific survey.

Im in Bham and dont know too many that are happy about it. And that is from Bama friends, family, coworkers and sportstalk.

Slam them if it makes you feel better but there is nothing good about these developments for the Vols.

Both of these a holes can recruit and coach.

Only bad can come from it. There is nothing these 2 can do to improve recruiting. Orgeron is a decent Coach and Kiffin is a good QB Coach, although you couldnt tell from his coaching stint as SC. Saban is gonna get players and top classes and doesnt need either of those 2. So as a Vol Fan I love it and see potential for disaster all over it. But both of them recruiting wont improve on the top classes they get year in and out and could cause major issues among the other Coach's. Hope like hell they hire Orgeron.

No but I lost all respect for him with this because I thought he would look for integrity and class first and he is not getting either with these hires.

Saban doesn't know and doesn't care what you think of him and his coaching decisions. If you're a Vol fan, he cares even less. And one must wonder why you even care about Saban and Bama.

Saban is referred to as Satan by Vols fans, opponent coaches, and a few reporters. If he's the Devil, isn't it proper he'd be known by the company he keeps? If you respect him, does that make you a Devil worshiper? :)

Now, a different view. If UT fans hate Kiffin so much (I don't, I just hate what he did), this is the perfect opportunity for revenge. We build a team that can handle Bama, beat them consistently or so soundly, the Kif-Ore two headed monster is kick out off the staff of our most hated foe. Though I don't condone it because it will just make UT fans look bad on TV, we even get a chance to jeer them. Force him to cower behind a wall of security or be sneaked into Neyland in a cargo container. In short make him so uncomfortable he may not be able to do his job well. And you got to admit, Tennessee's take on TV revenue will certainly help drag our program out of the red. Vols fan antics and the stereotyped views of "rednecks" will make the games MUST SEE TV. Advertising and viewing revenue goes off the charts. It being we're a Jerry Springer nation and all. You're thinking too narrow terms, bub.

No one is debating that, those world class sleaze bags have a"checkered" past. You can bet 'LIL lame was all over himself apologizing to "LIL nicky for all the bad things he said about bammer while at UT. So the douche is a hypocrite too.

Saban was the only coach kiffin didn't criticize while he was at ut. He would always say that he had a tremendous amount of respect for what Saban was doing.

I like this.

Lane and the Ogre never stay in one place long and they usually leave a cluster $%^% after they bolt.

Couldn't happen to a better bunch of fellers.

You guys crack me up. Do you think Saban is going to let these guys run around like buffoons and cheat under him? Kiffin and Ed can recruit as good as anyone in the country. Ed is widely known as one of the best D-line coaches in country, and Kiffin can develop QBs and call a decent offensive game. If Bama couldn't already get any player they wanted, they sure will be able to now. This isn't going to tank Bama, this will put them back on top. Saban saw a change was needed, and Kiffin and Ed will give Bama top recruiters who are very good as position coaches/coordinators.

That being said. What parent in their right mind would sit down with Ed or Kiffy and look them in the eye and say, Yeah I want you to coach my kid and teach him. Really? With all the checkered past and underhanded dealings these two have had in the not to distant past. It isnt like these things arent well known. These two have a reputation that certainly precedes them. I personally wouldnt allow them in my yard much less my living room.

I was about to say, surely Saban is not that far gone. The compliance department would be having nightmares with both Orgeron and Kiffin in Tuscaloosa.

Compliance Department? At Bama?

I didn't think they were required to comply with the rules?
