Formula 1 Thread

I believe the cars are more important than the driver in F1 than in any other series. Look at most starting grids, the team cars tend to be grouped together.

However, because the performance threshold is so much larger, a driver, through his skill set and technical knowledge, can make up the difference far easier, so the driver still has a great impact in the performance of the car.

i have a feeling it's not going to be too much longer before Vettel is earning the cheers of the Tifosi, which may open up a seat for Hamilton.

That would be the dumbest thing he could do in his career, unless he was smart like Schumi was and brought Newey to Ferrari with him.

I don't think so. Ferrari can still crap out a race winner. Lest we forget that Alonso could have won the WDC last year had it not been for Petrov and poor race strategy!

I have seen Mercedes GP latest design:

Exactly. Ferrari are so poorly managed that they took a fast car and the most complete driver in the field, and made what should have been a straightforward, no nonsense drive to a championship and handed it to Red Bull on a silver platter. I have lost count of how many podiums and wins they've lost to bad management in the years since the evil empire dissolved. Ferrari has failed to hire Geoff Willis, and now Dyer has gone. I believe Baldiserri left last year, and now The Don Luca is leaving for politics, leaving the empire to some kid who will probably run it into the ground.

You know who can really run a team, and needs to make a comeback?

David Richards. He made BAR Honda into a really good team during the 2003-2004 seasons. I really think one of these teams, like Williams should scoop him up, if they could afford them.

Also, let the 2008 thing go. I find it puzzling that people question the legitimacy of Hamilton's Championship, but honor Schumacher's 1994 WDC, Senna's 1990 WDC, and Prost's 1989 WDC. At least Hamilton didn't have to crash someone off to win his title, he was simply in the right place at the right time.

those three were pretty phony too, but i don't recall saying anything about them being legit compared to 08.

Oh, I know you didn't compare those years to 08, but I was trying to bring up that Hamilton's Championship is no less legitimate compared to other drivers. Also, think about all the years that team orders dictated the championship.

I am just trying to put it out there that what Hamilton did was no fluke. The only fluke in my eyes is that he isn't a two times world champ. Personally I think he should have his three by now.

those are on him. he's made numerous costly errors that have affected his championship hopes.

I agree. Especially last year. If he just collected good points at both Singapore and Italy, he was in position to do really well.

It is frustrating being a Hamilton fan at times, because he has thrown away a lot of good races. But he is capable of amazing drives.

He is never boring though. That's what I love.

even the sun shines on a dog's ass some days.

not sure who was behind the Glock move, but they really didn't want Massa winning in his home country.

I seriously hope to hell you're going all in on trolling right now.

Just finished re-watching this years Chinese GP.

Man I hope Lewis makes me proud at Singapore. Especially if I am going to be up at that ungodly hour to watch it.

i find it hard to believe that world class driver couldn't handle a little rain for a few corners. weak.

If it was just a little rain, then why did everyone switch to inters?

Also, you have to remember that this year was the first year without Traction Control in over a decade, so those sort of conditions, on non rain tires was very difficult.

Sorry, I could not find his other two spins. Funny how these world class racing drivers struggle with a little rain.:birgits_giggle:

Anyone getting F1 2011 next week?

Apparently it is supposed to have a co-op online campaign, where you take the role of drivers on one team.

I plan to get on Xbox.

I may need someone to be the Jenson Button to my Lewis Hamilton.

Didn't play F1 2010 but I might get 2011, how's the handling physics compare to Forza 3 or GT5?

Pathetic isn't it? Much like Glock's anchor dropping lap in Brazil.

Look, I'm sorry the Hamilton title is tainted. I am really am.

It is very twitchy. I have heard it is better with a wheel. I do recommend not turning off TCS. I know its not 100% authentic with it on, but with a controller it was too frustrating to enjoy.

It is a lot of fun, and I love the weather changes, because the rain really looks great. You can gamble about when you want to switch to inters or drys. Watching a dry line form is really cool to watch, along with watching the track actually rubber-in over the course of the weekend.

I hope the AI is improved, because the difficulty would be a bit all over the place at times. Some races I would crush Ferrari's in my Lotus, and other races I couldn't make Q3 in my McLaren.

Plus something has to tide me over until Forza 4 drops!
