Most racing games are set up that way - incredibly frustrating without a wheel if all the driving help turned off

True. But I have never had any trouble with either Forza or Gran Turismo without a wheel.

Sigh, I wish I had money for a wheel!

I play gt5 with very mild tcs and do fine, but that drop from 1 to 0 is the difference between me dominating and crashing everywhere

That's because those games have certain things built in that the player can't mess with. Auto correct being one of them.

Playing gt5 with something like the formula gt or the red bull car and all driving aids turned off on the dual shock is pretty insane.

Got F1 2011 last evening. Very fun, the difficulty is improved, and it is more polished than its predecessor.

All the reviews are spot on. Really good and authentic, but the career mode could use more personality. I wish I could design my own helmets, chose my driver height, and race. Also I am sure girl players would like to be able to change their driver's gender. These are all small nit-picky things that would make me feel a bit more tied to the career, but my main concern is the racing, which they got spot on.


Still haven't tried the online mode yet.

The handling is still not what I'd expect, but it is leagues better than last year. I was driving an HRT, too. Nerd-Vol, if you had it on PC, you'd be getting a helmet template in the next month or so. Hopefully it's better than last years, because that one was awful. Awful.

I am pretty happy with the handling, but then again I am super excited to have a F1 game in the US.

In your opinion what do you think is off about the handling? If you have a computer that can run this game, I bet you have tried some of the sim-racers out there, so you are probably well suited to give an assessment.

Also, does anyone think there is some merit to Jenson Button's rumored move to Ferrari?

I could see it happening. Good on him too. I started watching this sport back in 2000-2001 following the Honda/Honda-Mugen powered cars, so he was my top driver back in the BAR-Honda days.

He put up with his share of crap cars. I am still bitter about 2009, which is totally me being an idiot, but it was very bittersweet to see the company I had pulled for so long jump ship and then take the title. The fact that I had been watching Lewis since 2005-2006 did help soften the blow.

The rear end is a little too soft, and still not enough medium speed grip. Very rarely would you see someone spin out of the first corner at Melbourne without clobbering the curbs. Yet it's damn near impossible. Of course, I am driving then HRT. Other than that, which can be driven around, the game is fantastic. I ran out of fuel in the race yesterday because I didn't keep up with my fuel mapping. No longer can you pick the crappiest car in the game and expect to compete on expert. I was WELL off Liuzzi's pace, and was going all out.

I have the difficulty at Professional, which is the 3rd hardest setting, and I am taking regular points in my Williams. I also took a great podium at Canada, which is by far my best track. If I move up to a team like Merc, or Renault and I am constantly taking wins I will bring the difficulty up to Expert.

Also, for the record, I hate Monaco in games that aren't Gran Turismo. I just crashed out within the first lap to get it over with.

The fuel mapping is a bit frustrating, but so far I have never had a need to run anything other than Normal. The moment I get the red mist and switch it to Rich, I start making mistakes.

What race lengths are you doing? I am doing half distances. It makes each race fun and seem important.

I do 20 percent distances. I don't have time to get too in depth with it, I just wanna feel like a hero. Did you say you had this on 360? If you have it on PS3 I might be joining you soon.

Sadly I got it on my 360, I like the controller better for racing games.






HAMILTON fastest in practice 1, I know it's still early, but go go go!!!!

Damn, Button made a hell of a late run to get second. Kept Vettel from walking away with the title by one point, still five races left.

Suzuka up next. Love that track.

Me too! I love Suzuka! None of the upcoming tracks are Hamilton's best, but hopefully he can turn it around.
