Formula 1 Thread

Then why are they going to such lengths to talk about how his teammate was supposed to get the win to help him out? Seems you're the one not paying attention. Kinda like how you do in other forums

Webber was supposed to get the win because he was in the lead after the final pitstops and neither red bull was in danger from behind. This is common if teammates are in the same situation. Maybe if you were someone who paid more attention to F1 you'd understand.

I had to laugh at Webber's take on Vettel's move just after the fact.

I honestly feel bad for Mark. He's been a team player at RBR, however their golden boy Vettel can't follow what the team requests.

Formula One -- Sebastian Vettel passes Mark Webber for win; move 'a mistake' - ESPN

If you're the better car, you get the position, especially if it's for the win right? Helping a "teammate" is bogus in racing. This is just dumb.

it may not make the most sense but it's F1, it's the way they do things. team orders used to be common enough to the point they would actually tell driver B to let driver A pass but they're not allowed to do that anymore, as blatantly at least because they still make calls like that. what the team says goes.

one thing i really like about F1 is they'll call someone out in a heartbeat not like this NASCAR crap where they more or less have to "play nice" and say the right things. this is my favorite comment about it, he's basically saying vettel can do whatever he wants and get away with it.

"Seb made his own decisions and he will have protection as usual and that's the way it goes," Webber said.

The F1 world is in uproar over all this. Very interesting start to the season.

I am really starting to join in with the people criticizing the Pirelli tires. According to Lewis they only drive at about 80% most of the race. I don't know how to feel about that. The show is sort of better, but I want them to go at it. I don't want what we had in the early 2000's though.

thing is though where would webber go and have this kind of equipment to be that strong every week? he's kind of like a jenson button, he had one podium before joining with red bull and that was with williams who wasn't terrible at the time, mid pack guys. That was also the only year he finished in the top 10 in points, at #10. it's almost it's like a ***** about it and leave or stay and drive a dominant car every week.

Yep. That's the plight of being the #2 driver at a top team. Do you swallow your pride and stay in the best equipment or do you leave and go to a lesser team for the hopes of equal treatment?

Button is a world champ.

I think Button is a very good driver, but I would not put him in the same class of Alonso/Vettel/Hamilton.

Kimi belongs in that first tier with Alonso, Vettel, and Hamilton. You may not like his personality but you can't deny he is one of the elites.

Preceded by Red Bull and his team.

I dunno. I like the show, but I wish it was a bit more about the driver, and their limits, not their economy drive.

I liked the idea of a long lasting tire. It lets the drivers push more. I hate it when tire degradation is uttered more that three times in a weekend. I used to go to the Darlington Nascar race and hear the drivers complain about it killing tires

Yeah. I think perhaps, make it so you have to use both compounds, but make the tires last a decent amount of time, but have their be a noticeable difference in speed.

Also, I know it's dangerous, but refueling was fun. Hell it was the only reason Toyota ever looked decent in a couple of seasons, simply qualifying on fumes and then pitting within 6 laps.
