Yeah. I think perhaps, make it so you have to use both compounds, but make the tires last a decent amount of time, but have their be a noticeable difference in speed.

There you go. If you have to have this one tire manufacturer.

I would be pumped if Pirelli left and Goodyear came back in. I know Pirelli can and would produce a great tire if asked, but I would love to have a big American company back in the sport.

One tire manufacture though. I hate the idea of a tire war. Very boring to see advancements made on the most boring part of the car.

I disagree, I enjoy tire wars. But I'm a tech nut.

Engine and Aero wars are better. But tire wars are good

adrian newey wins all aero wars. i wouldn't mind seeing say, Force India, **** on Red Bulls lunch by making a different tire work better for their car, as long as the different tire manufacturers were close as far as degradation.

Adrian Newey is the top dog. Braun is no slouch either. I just wish McLaren would pay those guys to stay.

The mid 80's to mid 90's were the best period in F1 and the drivers are an overrated part of that equation.

Didn't McLaren have a Puegot engine in the 89 MP4/9?

Nope. That year was the mighty Honda V10 N/A. Honda stuck with McLaren through the 92 season. Then McLaren ran customer Ford engines in 1993, then the puegots in 94.

Thanks. Sorry, still a noob on the older cars.

Don't sweat it. I'm just happy that there are folks in here chatting about f1.

I love talking specs. I loved that lambo tried to put cylinders at 120° to make a compact engine. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the cam shafts.

Yeah, folks had some wild designs back in the day. There is an interesting documentary done back in the 1980's called "Equinox: Turbo, once around the block", part two is called qualifying boost, and there is a third part called made to measure. The documentary follows Cosworth and Ford in their efforts to develop a turbo engine for the 87 season, in the Haas Lola F1 car.

Pretty interesting and technical stuff.
