That's ludicrious. Look at his record pre F1. Up there with Vettel and Hamilton but he didn't have the support that they did. Sutil didn't do anything but be hamiltons teammate in F3.
i know a lot of people bag on sutil but i've always thought he was a decent driver, given the equipment he always had. the spyker was just awful but he managed around the top of those 3rd tier teams. he was 9th in WC in 2011 and has always got pretty much the results you'd expect out of the car. now, would moving somewhere like mclaren lead to a WC, probably not but there are worse drivers out there they could pick. he's drove **** cars since 2006 and maybe to me it's more of a "paid his dues" kind of thing but i don't think the guy is terrible at least.
He's not terrible, but he doesn't deserve anything. The one time he had the car capable of winning, he was off the pace of his over-the-hill teammate, who in his prime might have been on the level of a Massa. He's not an upgrade from Button at all because he's never gonna win a championship. The whole "he drove **** cars" thing goes out the window when you have Vettel wiining in a Toro Rosso that hasn't comwe close to replicating the same performance since, Hulkenberg getting pole at the end of the season in one of the worst Williams cars in recent history, Sauber drivers getting on the podium as well. Yet Sutil has only a 4th to his name driving in a car with the most powerful lump in F1.
Also you mention Sutil getting shown up by his over the hill teammate, however you neglect to mention that Nico scored less than half the points Rubens did in 2010.
But yeah, Sutil's resume isn't that great.
Pirelli will change their hard compound tyres ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix following a consultation with the Formula One teams.
Several teams have expressed dissatisfaction with this year's more aggressive compounds with reigning World Champions Red Bull leading the call for change.
However, others have come out in support with Pirelli's motorsport director Paul Hembery recently revealing that eight of the 11 outfits are against major changes.
As such, and after deliberation back in Milan, the Italian tyre manufacturer has decided to change only the hard compound tyres.
"After evaluating tyre performance over the balance of the first four races, we took the decision - in consultation with all of the teams - to change the hard compound from Spain onwards, as we did in Barcelona two years ago when we also introduced a new hard tyre for the rest of the season," Hembery said.
"This latest version of the hard compound is much closer to the 2012 tyre, with the aim of giving the teams more opportunity to run a wider range of strategies in combination with the other compounds, which remain unchanged."
The updated hard compound will be in action for the first time at the Spanish GP where the medium tyres will also be in use.
One race later, Monaco, it will be the soft and supersoft tyres while in Canada the drivers will race on the medium and supersoft tyres.
.Sergio Perez says he has not apologized to Jenson Button after the McLaren team-mates made contact on track while racing for position at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Perez nudged the back of Button's car during the skirmish and later touched wheels with his team-mate while travelling at 300km/h. Immediately after the race Button labelled Perez's driving as "dirty" but on Monday he tweeted that the pair had met to "clear the air".
However, Perez said at no point during the post-race debrief had he apologized to his team-mate, arguing that it was not necessary to do so.
"I think that the criticism took place right after the end of the race," he said. "We had the chance to talk, which was very good for me, the team and for Jenson. It was said in various publications that I apologized to Jenson, but it wasn't like that.
"I didn't apologize to him because I didn't think it was necessary. We owed an apology to the team and that's what we talked about. We apologized to the team because we risked a lot and we were both very aggressive, but no, at no moment did I apologize and my relationship with Jenson is still okay."
