Fortenberry reports that lawsuit is having an impact

So what you're saying is that you know better than Fort. Got it.

Knows better about what?

What is it that Fortenberry "knows" besides the fact that other coaches are bringing it up? I haven't seen his exact comment.

As far as I can tell, the OP is the one who stated that was 'probably the reason for slow movement.' Was there more to what PF said then other coaches are brining it up?

Fortenberry reports that lawsuit is having an impact, opposing coaches are telling recruits that the Title IX lawsuit could "lead to NCAA troubles for Tennessee"

It's right there, the very first post. If that's what Fort said, then you can't really argue against that

Fortenberry didn't say that the lawsuit was having an impact on the decisions of recruits. The OP speculated that it was. Fort just said that opposing coaches were bringing it up and saying that "it could lead to NCAA troubles". Again, that is easily rebutted by the fact that UT is not under NCAA investigation.

Not one recruit is on the record that I can find, discussing the Title IX lawsuit vs UT in any context.

Of course that's assuming that's what he actually said. Maybe OP made it all up I don't know

Okay nevermind then, I thought that was a direct quote. It's a bit of a misleading title then, no?

what's so frustrating is no one has been found guilty of anything. at all. yet, the University suffer either way.

Those opposing coaches better watch what they say. Their school could be next. This is probably just the beginning. Don't think UT will be the only school sued like this, we're just the first. Sad.

...and that means the lawsuit is having an impact? Name one player who would be committed to us right now if it wasn't for the Title IX lawsuit.

... and yes, it is early and we are in on some great prospects.

I doubt any recruit would publicly admit that's why he is not considering UT

"Other schools are using the Title IX lawsuit against Tennessee. It appears that it may or may not be having an impact"

If the AA wants to try and get involved here I'll bet you'll see assemblance of lawyers not seen in some time.

All schools better hope UT is successful in combating this suit. If UT loses big time, you can bet every major university will be on the chopping block. They should be contributing to UT'S legal defense fund.

Exactly. Hart should tell other coaches to back off or we will settle and then they can be the next target sooner and more likely they will lose or settle. They better ply together and if not then screw them all. If it's better for UT to settle instead of fight then do so and forget being a test case to help the other crappy schools.

I guess all is fair in love, war and recruiting. That is probably the reason for the slow movement on some commitments.

Coach Doug Mathews has been saying the same.

I don't know what Fortenberry said, that's why I was asking. But either way, I don't see anything in TNnative's post that implies 'he knows better' than PF.

It's an obstacle. Doesn't mean it can't be overcome.

Because OUR coaches would NEVER bring up ANYTHING negative about another school while recruiting.......
