Foster about to throw us under the bus on ESPN...

Not absurd. Most people being vocal about this including coaches are not talking about kids making significant money. They are talking about more of an allowance since college football takes us so much of these kids time they have no time to have a job.

Heck I was recruited to run track at the Naval Academy. I not only got my college paid for via track but also got a SMALL PAYCHECK each month while in college. Little different because it was a service academy but I wouldn't have even got in without being recruited for track. You would think why did I need any $ since I had uniforms, free meals, free room. LIFE that's why. Same with these kids. $200-$300 a month is not going to ruin college football.

And lastly this is probably more of am issue no than 20 years ago. The pressure in these programs is unbelievable. Conditioning, film study. The NCAA limits "organized" practice to 20hrs a week. Key is "organized".

I'm ok with the NCAA relaxing rules restricting these players from working, but they should not be GIVEN money for nothing. Let them work summer jobs. Problem solved. Of course, they wouldn't work. They are too good for that.

Will someone please confirm Foster is not what we consider an A-List Vol as far as contributions to the overall success of the Tennessee Vols. Manning,Wilson,Lewis, etc.

He's the second leading rusher in Tennessee history...........I think that qualifies as "A" list

Off the top of my head I can name many, many RBs that were better than him while at UT. Just RBs...no other positions. Henry, Stephens, Stewart, Lewis,,Webb, Cobb, Graham, Garner, Hayden...etc. etc. Etc.. and I'm only 36 years old. Bet there are. Dozens more. His fumbles at the absolute worst times cost us several big SEC games. Just realized those were all Fulmers backs except maybe Cobb? Phil could spot a good RB (and land him)

2 things that haven't been cleared up yet. First, they can't get jobs per the NCAA so that's not an option. Second they DO get meal plan money for the weekends. It's like 200 or 400 a month.

This is such a ridiculous argument. They don't need to be payed. First they are getting all the things we know like an education, a place to live, and free food. However they are getting a lot more. For him to act like he's not and some of y'all agreeing is unbelievable. For him to compare it to a coach driving a Lexus and having more than him at the time is crazy. Fulmer did the same thing. He used his free education that he earned playing the game he loves ( which is worth a lot considering how bad we and they want to do this) to make millions. The coaches were done with school and he wasn't, thats the only difference. The school provided them the means to earn millions, just like any other business. That's the other huge benefit they seem to miss. Look at what happens to players like Janzen Jackson with all the talent in the world when they leave this free training at a huge school. That school that is making millions is providing a tremendous service for free along with an education, living quarters, tremendous facilities, amenities, fame etc etc. along with money for weekend food. Plus the training and platform for them to make millions, try doing it without it like Janzen. Thats way more than everyone else in school or who was not blessed with the talent to play sports. They are getting plenty. That's why they fight so hard to get it. They have it much better than anyone else in college and the schools pay them plenty already.
