Four Former UT Football Staffers Receive NCAA Penalties for Recruiting Violations

I highly, highly doubt Tennessee gets a bowl ban over this considering they literally stripped the staff to nothing once it was brought to light. Plus it appears the staff gave false or misleading information to the university itself. I don't see White bending over and taking that while the program is on an upswing with all new everything that had nothing to do with the situation.

That's worse than I expected. Cornbread will probably get a 10 year show cause. They probably "negotiated" with Niedermeyer and Company to flip on Pruitt, but hopefully not Fulmer.
Fulmer himself is nothing in all this. No one is beating on Phil Fulmer's door trying to hire him and no one ever will.

Pruitt is actually mentioned as a coach. Putting a show cause on him is something the useless NCAA can "flex" about. Fulmer? They might as well have dirt on Majors. Fulmer is old news.

If Pruitt and others have dirt on Fulmer AND they can prove Donde/Boyd knew Fulmer was dirty and still paid his contract after he retired, there's an institutional issue.

We fired the others without a dime. We paid Fulmer. If UT knew he was in it too and still paid him, that's bad.

The University should claim that Pruitt is a Bama fan and took the job to undermine our program. He's gone now, so go check out the 2 programs where he learned his bag money techniques. He's such a fan, he let himself get caught so he could ruin UT Football forever!

I agree, but NIL is different than getting your wife to pay rent for someone on the team.
Yes - now if your wife is a realtor or property manager and her company signs an NIL deal with a particular player to endorse or make appearances on behalf of her company then that is now totally legit.

But straight cash payments from her to a player or a player's family for any reason is still off limits.

I still think Danny White has been putting in the time here with the NCAA.
By splitting out the cases against the coaches and the university the NCAA can speed up the process against everyone and hand down penalties to varying degrees that better match the level of infraction per individual.

We see Nieds and Ansley already got a no-show, expect Pruitt's is coming next (really believe this more since he didn't make Saban's staff at Bama...I think someone up in the 'AA told Nick to steer clear). That should leave the university where non of them no longer are employed and the AD had no indication that the infractions were happening...so minor scholarship adjustments, recruiting visit restrictions, and have a nice day.

Honestly Pruitt’s main issue was he came straight from Bama. He was careless and dumb with how he went about things and he was that way bc there are numerous obstacles to any cheating ever being reported at Bama. Does anyone believe he just suddenly learned to cheat at Tennessee? Or that he didn’t cheat at Bama, Georgia, Florida State in his previous stops? He cheated and was arrogant enough to think it would be swept under the rug like it had been every other place he had been.

So, I just had a daymare where the NCAA is saving school sanctions untill 2025, when we hit our stride.

I think we forfeit our wins from the 2020 season and get a bowl ban this season.
No bowl ban, every player involved is long gone so why punish the current players for what Henry To'oTo'o and the others did.

Probably negotiating over scholarship reductions and recruiting restrictions but I wonder with NIL if reduced scholarships will be as damaging as in years past. Hopefully the Vol Club could come up with some deals to help offset lost scholarships.

Are you naive enough to think Butch, Dooley, Lane, etc WEREN'T cheating? They were. All SEC schools were.

Pruitt is dumb, not arrogant. Dumb.

Been saying this all along. If Cornbread revealed that Fulmer had a role and the university is still letting him hang around then UT is still associated with the scandal. And the NCAA would use that association as an indicator of a cover up and lack of institutional control. UT did not fire Fulmer.

They negotiated his ouster, which is basically the same thing. Fulmer has no official duties with the school.

Allowing Fulmer to retire was one thing but paying him $1.5M from his contract after his retirement =if= they knew he was involved is something the NCAA can use against the school.

Hopefully he wasn't involved. Other than that, I can't see any leverage Pruitt has. I thought the school would toss him a few million to clam up but they didn't so the school either either gambled he wouldn't talk or he didn't have anything to talk to the NCAA about.

They reduced scholarships for two years already. If the school receives any significant punishment beyond what has already been done, then no school should cooperate with the NCAA in the future. We brought the NCAA into every facet of this investigation and gave them significantly more information than they would have been able to find on their own. There are no players, coaches, or AD involved in this mess still around, so our self-imposed penalties should be sufficient.

Agree Fulmer is done personally, I'm just worried as to the effect of any previously unknown shenanigans Fulmer was aware of complicating the University's outcome.
