Four plays

Honestly, we just weren't the better team in any phase of the game yesterday

OL was porous
HH missed several deep balls, but just barely
HH held on to several balls that have to get out
Receivers didn't get separation like they have
No pressure on Bennett
Couldn't stop the run
Secondary played OK but gave up a couple of crucial plays
Special teams cost us big time with the punt

All in all, we played one of our worst games, but we still had a couple of chances to make it close. Learn and move forward.

Umm no, it wasn’t a few plays. Georgia played conservatively in the 2nd half. They were averaging 40 points a game, and could’ve done the same if we made those plays.
First drive of the second half, they went 16 plays, but we held them to a field goal. Holding penalty killed the second drive. Fumble killed the third. So, I respectfully disagree. In spite of being whipped --especially line play on both sides of the ball -- Bennett misses one of those, Hooker hits one of those, and no flukey 75 yard punt skipping out at the one, and it's a ball game.

The opening series GA was moving the ball on us at will until the fumble which set us up in great field position and all we got was three points. We basically had an opportunity to gain momentum, but imo didn’t seize the moment.
GA answers and scores which is not the end of the world and we somehow stop them and allow them to punt. What do they do? Hit a freakish 75 yd punt that not even the late Ray Guy could do and for me, that changed the complexion of the entire game and gave GA all the momentum. Add our constant false starts and mental mistakes as well as missing wide open receivers didn’t allow us to switch MO on our side.
The early play by GA and our miscues set the tone then and there and it became a helluva long day

Mehhh..it doesn't quite work like that. Georgia changed their gameplan to be ultra conservative and run clock in the 2nd half because they were up. Until that point we really hadn't stopped them much. There is no knowing how the game would have changed had we been able to score on offense.
Yea and in years past UGA would have been able to run up and down the field on us. They didn’t do that yesterday.

I think it’s a stretch to say Hooker “usually” makes them. Overthrows have been an issue this year. Just hasn’t cost us games until now.
Yes I see this year has been Hyatt has been wide wide open down behind safeties to take the edge off the defense. He didn't get as many early and when he didn't catch them I think the rest of the game he went back to last years Hyatt of not getting off the first 10 yards of coverage as the Georgia corners were physical with him.

Consecutive 3-and-outs is not the goal of conservative play calling. Georgia got a field goal to start the second half and didn’t get another first down until the last drive of the game.

I think one of the major things that hasn't been discussed is the refs allowing the UGA defenders to get real handsy with the UT receivers. They called those on Bama. I did notice late in the game they actually called a couple of holds when it no longer mattered. They had been doing it all game

Two long passes by Georgia, which they normally don't complete.
Two overthrown touchdown passes that Hooker normally makes.
These plus the 75 yard punt (along with the mess it created) and Bennett eluding the D on the 3rd down play and scoring were the plays that determined the game.

Tennessee got manhandled on both sides of the ball. It wasn't even as close as the score would suggest. UGA had several drop passes that were touchdowns and overthrown balls as well. They went into clock management mode the second half otherwise it would've been much uglier. Bennett only through four passes the second half because he didn't need to do anything else since the game was so obviously in hand. Tennessee got beat by a much better team. Everyone forgot that UGA was second in total offense in the country. So you put together a top five offense and defense and this is what it looks like. Tennessee is having one of those unexpected years just like Cincinnati last year for instance.

10 is an under sized linebacker which means his asset is speed. He was there, didn’t make the play.

The DE completely lost contain. That happens to Baron more than it should. If he’d been there to keep qB inside it was a sack & Fg instead of TD.

Ass kicking. Score does not indicate how bad we got beat

That may be true but 10 was there. Had the chance to make the play and didn’t.

I didn’t see UGA go ultra conservative until midway through the 4th. We had stops in the first half too. Their first scoring drive was impressive. After that I felt like we defended them well, other than when our DB fell down and gave up the long TD.

Never mind HH being sacked 5 times in a row?
yeah I think that’s the point of the thread. If the results of those 4 plays go our way the score is much closer. We might still have lost but once we settled down we were actually competitive despite shooting ourselves in the foot with false start penalties.

You are right Kirby remembered the 2 interceptions SB threw and let UF get back in a game. SB had already hit banks in the numbers with what should have been a pick. SB had good fortune after that but Kirby wasn’t going to chance it 2nd half . You never know as lucky or fortunate SB was 1st half he could have thrown a pick 6 or 2 Kirby IMO wisely played conservative and ran the clock as much as he could.
