Fox "News" is Crap

I respect it when a member of the right criticizes Bush for being too soft on illegal immigration or allowing spending to be so out of control.

Even as a Democrat, I happen to agree that both parties have been incredibly ineffectual in dealing with both of those issues and both should be criticized.

Hannity? Pure evil. I was flipping through channels on the radio yesterday, in fact, and caught his radio show. He whined sarcastically for a bit, until I could take no more. Every time I've seen him or heard him, its the same schtick.

Wha wha wha. How can anyone listen to that man or, worse, take their political cues from him? I swear all he does is complain 24/7/365.

Hannity is far from a Bush apologist. He was very critical of McCain-Feingold, Bush-Kennedy, the prescription drug program, many spending bills that continued increasing the size and scope of government, and the various farm bills.

I can listen to him, but I have to throw my arms up in frustration when he brings up Wright, Pfleger, and Ayers. Everybody knows that Obama has questionable associations, but Hannity has chosen to beat those dead horses into the ground.

That's because he (Hannity) is exploiting the racial fears of the white voters. He figures that Obama's associations with the "angry black man" mentality of Wright et al will be meaningful.

Know what? I think he may be right. Its distressing, but I think he is pushing a point a lot of people will respond to.

I am in no way a political person, so therefore I can't see how anyone could take cues from anyone else. Why don't people make their own decisions instead of letting a mouthpiece for one political party or another sway their judgment? Never have understood this.

Also, I could never understand why people, just because they are affiliated with one of the parties, blindly agree with almost everything that party says or does even if it is blatantly in the wrong. Why compromise your beliefs and values just to follow the company line? Seems kind of dangerous to me.

It's not just the lefties that think Fox News is full of :censored:. Here is what FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting; a national watchdog organization) has to say about FOX:

The Most Biased Name in News

FAIR, the national media watch group, has been offering well-documented criticism of media bias and censorship since 1986. We work to invigorate the First Amendment by advocating for greater diversity in the press and by scrutinizing media practices that marginalize public interest, minority and dissenting viewpoints. As an anti-censorship organization, we expose neglected news stories and defend working journalists when they are muzzled. As a progressive group, FAIR believes that structural reform is ultimately needed to break up the dominant media conglomerates, establish independent public broadcasting and promote strong non-profit sources of information.

Hannity is awful. I doubt you see many people on here use him for backing up any idea. Hannity does not comprise all of Fox News. In fact, his counterpart on that TV show is equally horrible and impossible to listen to.

Agreed.

I'm not a big Hannity fan, but Colmes is just as bad.

I don't think that Fox's message of "Fair and Balanced" is intended to insinuate that every Fox analyst is fair and balanced...or that every broadcast will be fair and balanced...I think, instead, it's Fox's intention to give you a fair and balanced sampling of conservative journalists and liberal journalists. I'll admit, though, that you get more conservative journalism than liberal journalism with Fox.

typical of the FNC hysteria. you quote a lot of dailyKOS talking points but you don't point to a single specific example.
What is it with you and KOS lately? Did you just discover the site or something?

Swil, this org is a left leaning media watchdog group. Of course they criticize Fox News, wouldn't expect anything less. If you can use some other non biased group as a source I might actually be able to entertain it.

I'm okay with either liberal or conservative talk show hosts (tv or radio) as long as they announce themselves to be so and distinctly disavow that they are neutral. For all his endless and annoying whining, at leats Hannity admits it.

What I'm most put off by is the alleged provision of "news" that is "fair and balanced" when it is none of the above. If you ever watch that morning show, for example, with the three numskulls (can't remember their names). They sit around in a circle and just appeal to the lowest common denominator they can find.

Its usually one of the two guys reading a "news" story that is very critical of Democrats, followed by the woman co-host either feigning being a complete idiot (or really being one) basically saying "I declare!" and going on with some insipid personal anecdote that drives home the point to country bumpkin Sally-Jo out in the audience that, hey, this Obama guy is not for you.

Come on guys, even those of you on the right have to admit that Fox News is not news -- its just a Republican-based Bush apologist network.

I look and see on this site repeatedly "news stories" that are taken from Fox and which are obviously written to embarass or criticize the Democrat they are based on. They routinely overstate or quote out of context, and its all to advance a conservative agenda.

You may think there is a subtle liberal media bias in the other networks, but Fox is just blatant about it.

Fair and balanced? What a joke!

and CNN isn't a liberal loving station????

To add to my point above, its really Britt Hume and Chris Wallace that make me want to throw my television set out the window. I don't think I've ever seen a more glib SOB that Hume, and he reads propaganda as thought it were news. Loved it when Clinton got all up in Wallace's grill and called him out.

I think I've only referenced KOS twice in the last week or so. I only mention it because they are the standard bearers for the Noam Chomsky, hard line lefties.

that said, Moulitsas is a vile human being who's only redeeming quality is that he probably has a mother who still loves him.

He's a trial lawyer. He doesn't fit the profile.:)

I represent police officers when they get sued for violating civil rights. Everyone around me is as right as can be.

I like to think that I balance the work out and that the work balances me out.

Hume does tend to get a little smug, but I really think Chris Wallace is pretty fair. Just a few weeks ago I heard him criticizing the morning show on FNC for their harping on something that Obama said.

HA! Those would be 2 guys on Fox that I have the least amount of beef with. Go figure.

Very rare for me. Only had one or two. Other defense lawyers I know seem to have a handful, though.

Law, I knew a guy a couple of years ago that was tazered and killed by officers in Tampa...were you involved in that at all?
