She was in her early 30s. She went to night school for over a decade before enrolling at SMU. You can give her the benefit of the doubt as to what she may or may not have known, but you cannot chalk it up to youthful indiscretion.
fair point.

and when I first read your post I thought you said she had been in HIGH school for a decade. and that definitely would have changed some things.

her getting an extremely lenient sentence says to me that she was clueless. she was guilty to the letter of the law but not the spirit of it, so they let her off lightly. That makes a lot more sense than her knowingly being involved and getting a sentence of "leave town". saying she got caught makes its sound like she set it up. she was probably one of several people caught in whatever raid happened at the call center. the bosses probably went to jail, and all the people working the phones got off light.

its not like she is the first politician, or person in general, to take a shady job in college....

we know all paper boys are drug dealers, cashiers are money launders, and call center workers are pimps. no one ever gets pulled into things without them knowing its was illegal, especially as a college kid.

if the sentence to her "criminal record" is leave town, this sounds like a major nothing-burger.

I still call BS on the explanation. If she was completely ignorant and has no priors, there would be no charge. If you are an Uber driver and unknowingly transport drug dealers, you don't get charged for trafficking...

The purpose of deferred adjudication is to keep tabs on you for a couple of years to see if charges can be dropped. Telling the person to leave town is the exact opposite of what you would expect.

Again, her ignorance explanation makes no sense...

Yeah, I don't buy the "get out of town and we won't prosecute" story. Especially when the accused is a college student in town. I'm not even sure that kicking someone out of town would pass Constitutional muster.

She seems fun.

Uhhhh.... 30 years ago she had a job working as a secretary for a call girl operation? and it was a deferment? and this is news? seriously?

Wait, ahhhh I see it now. She is a Maga Republican and wants to stop the mutilation of children. Now it all makes sense.

On an aside, why can’t we get local (ie actually FROM here) people to run for offices on the state level? I know we exist 😂 People are not intrinsically smarter or better because they are from somewhere else lol (esp a carpetbagger) lol .. she reminds me of that Megan Barry, cuckoo lady, and yankee, the mayor of Nashville, who was getting it on the cemetery lol.. once again.. where do they find these people 😂?

It's news because she's running a campaign based on morals and it was clear she's lying straight through her teeth.

Only partisan hacks with a room temperature IQ didn't see this coming...

Both sides have very questionable people 😂.. taking my side out of the equation, she (R) doesn’t need to run, Megan Barry(D) didn’t need to be Nashville mayor (and she gone), and this Only Fans nurse practitioner (D).. also doesn’t need to run.. surely both sides can find better people 😂 if these are token candidates, maybe they need to reassess this process of the choosing.. maybe we should be doing best qualified, rather than just ticking boxes.. at least do some background checks or due diligence first lol

I really have no idea who this lady is but I honestly dont see the connection between running on a "morality campaign" today and mistakes she made 30 years ago.

I would care a lot more about how is she living her life NOW and in the recent past compared to what she says she represents. For example - Lauren Boebert, THAT is hypocrisy - but if you are having to stretch back 30 years, I think says more about you than the candidate.

I agree, what she did 30 years ago has no bearing on her campaign theme. It's the fact she lied about it and other things that disqualifies her from running on a morality platform.
