Truman was definitely not as bad as many have made him out to be. The verdict on him has ben changing for the better as time has gone on and more information has been made accesible. Irregardless if Truman was a clown, a dying president shouldn't keep his successor in the dark. Signs of a megalomaniac.

so now we create more govt to track each person's input/output from the system to set the cap?

No adjustment for inflation and not one dollar more than you put in sounds fine. Sign me up for that because we'll have people screaming for private plans within 3yrs.

I am serious about the private part but before you call me heartless realize I've stated many times that I am all for helping those that truly can't help themselves. However I do not believe that to be the case with many collecting SS and also know my money is disappearing into the checks of the boomers. Take care of the current batch of people (and implement wage limits) but allow the younger people to take care of their own retirement with part of their SS taxes. It will have a much better outcome in 2036 than the current system

Not trying to be at all disrespectful, but as much as you claim to hate govt beaurocracy, yes. Don't get me wrong, I respect you for what you do. I appreciate it as well. Just strikes me odd to be a part of something you say you despise.

You shouldn't. If I have misread you, apologies. Just by reading your posts, it seems to me that you are far right on most issues. I am by no means on the left or right. I try (don't always succeed) to look at issues on their merit no matter who proposes it. I lean to the right on some issues (welfare reform) and to the left on others (social security and labor). It is what it is I guess.


Edit: Compared to RespectTradition, you are a leftist pinko commie OE. Just messing with you RT in a good natured fashion. I would disagree with your assertion on FDR. I can see a neo conservative's dislike of FDR, but there are many others that were worse than FDR even from a far right position. One of the most scandal scarred administrations was US Grant's.
