*****Freak's National Signing Day Thread, Live as the commits sign, Feb. 7th, 2018

Today could have been a lot better, it could have been worse. But my question is why all the trolling by these kids towards UT? Are other schools being trolled or are we just a joke to these kids?

I was thinking the same thing.

Hurts we missed on so many of those DBs. Pruitt will have a ful year now to go get some talent but can’t miss next year. He was dealt a bad hand and overall pulled in a couple really good ball players. Just still feels like a bad day despite the situation we were in.

Go Vols!!

But he didn't mention anything about a specific need. It was more of a general answer to the question.

Agreed. I think the poster interjected what he thinks our needs are, but I understand what you're saying. Pruitt definitely didn't mention any specific needs.

Yes he was a 3 star, but i was referring to only the 4 stars we’ve signed this year since the previous Debbie downer poster is clearly only a star gazer and knows more about recruiting than Pruitt.

It’s easy to make this lame bash at posters not happy with a class. But reality is Pruitt went HARD after a lot of big star recruits and lost way more of them than Tennessee has lost in a long time.

There are many reasons when culminated together made today happen, most of which aren’t Pruitt’s fault. But he was clearly after these big names and had to settle. That part can’t be denied

I was going to ask the same thing. I didn’t pay attention to anyone else, but was curious if anyone happened to notice kids doing that with other schools.

It happened to FL and FSU by one dude, but i don't remember who it was. He knocked those hats off the table.

I would attribute that to TN being the laughing stock of college football the last few years. With stupid cliches like “champions of life” “team 1##”...dunking a football in a garbage can and the coaching search debacle it has been trendy to crap on TN. The national perception of TN has to change. It starts with getting kids who grew up TN fans like Trevor Lawrence and Cade Mays.

Not at all faulting CJP, but this class will haunt us, especially in 2020 and 2021. JUCOs Allen, Wood-Anderson, Gooden, and Johnson will all be gone.

Expecting CJP to take this talent head-to-head with the talent Georgia and Alabama signed today, and win?

Did we finish with a total of 22 signees? How many will we be able to sign next year?

Technically we have 20, according to Pruitt. If Norwood and Davis Blueshirt, we'd have 23 spots next year. That also still leaves three spots open in this year's class.

I believe Brandon Davis visited Tennessee as a baseball recruit, and was not officially recruited as a football player. Can sign and get a scholarship to play baseball, and per NCAA rules (see his thread), can practice with the team without counting against football. If he ever competes in games, he has to be counted against the football scholarships at that time.

It makes me wonder if the previous staff didn't go that hard after the highly rated recruits before, or we just didn't know about them.
It may have been the only reason they were listening to begin with was due to the relationships that had been built while at the previous school. As someone said before...it seems we were fishing in a different pond with this staff than the previous ones.

I don't understand the blueshirting. If we didn't fill our 25 spots for this class, why are we moving recruits forward to the next class?

I think it depends on whether or not they can pick up late signees. They basically have two scholarships to play with. If they haven't given them before fall, I would think they'll give them to Norwood and Davis.

Sorry, could've missed it somewhere else, but don't we still only have 2 spots available in this class with Norwood & Davis blueshirting? I thought Fant, Calbert, & Wiggins all counted against this 2018 class.
