*****Freak's National Signing Day Thread, Live as the commits sign, Feb. 7th, 2018

Hargis reported he signed, but Tennessee may not accept him as part of this class but look at counting him toward next year, thus freeing up the scholarship. Same with Davis.

Now his thread is blowing up with rumors that it might be because of something that happened a couple of years ago

Alontae Taylor
Greg Emerson
JJ Peterson
Emmitt Gooden
Jerome Carvin
Jordan Allen
Brant Lawless
Dominick Wood Anderson
Jeremy Banks

That’s the top half of our class, and they’re all studs. There are likely several more than Pruitt felt could be major contributors which is why he offered them (since he’s the head coach, not you). Yes, we know it isn’t a top ten or top 15 class, but it’s anything but “horrid”.

It takes a lot more than 9 guys in a class. And to call them all “studs” may be a bit of an overstatement.

Would it not be better to keep numbers open for next year? Unless we have some major players yet to sign this year?

Ideally, but he may think we need the bodies now. No way to be sure what Pruitt is thinking right now.

I could care less about Butch, CJP is our coach now. Is it bad to expect UT to sign highly rated players?
It's unrealistic when you're 0-8 last year in the SEC. What part of zero and anything makes it hard to understand recruiting?

It's possible that could have something to do with it, or maybe not. Davis is in the same boat of not being announced today as part of the class.

What about Cam Sutton...wasn't he a borderline 3 star?

Hey Freak... You are doing a great job today. I just wanted to point out you have all the signees there but it still says 6 Tennessee Signees.

Pruitt swung for the fences with highly rated guys, getting many of them on campus. He just didn't have enough time to flip as many of them as he would have liked. It was a bold strategy that probably didn't pan out quite as well as Pruitt hoped, IMO.

Pruitt only mentioned the six as counting toward this class. We're assuming that Davis and Norwood are possible blueshirt candidates. There's also some rumor that some old news about Norwood that surfaced could have affected his status.

I hope it's just a blueshirt situation. After the way he responded today he quickly became my favorite player in this class.

Think next year may be a dud so that could be a major miscalculation. I'll let the HC call the shots, but that is a bad sign imo

I may be wrong, but with Norwood just getting the offer today, it may have taken a bit to get the paperwork officially done. I think he's a 4* on 247. Hard to see him being a blueshirt

I'd wait for it all to play out before we jump to too many conclusions. I assume we could still end up with those two on scholarship this year, maybe Pruitt just wants to keep his options open.

I love the kid but he doesn't exactly have a four-star offer list. Tennessee was likely his best option and his dream school, whether he's asked to blushirt or not. Just my opinion.

I'm glad to have him, but where does anyone see him as a 4*?
