Friday weigh in thread (suns out guns out challenge 8/31/2025)

Passover begins and today is a fast for the firstborn males. (Me). So I killed it yesterday in preparation for the fast.

This week is also the feast of unleavened bread. Or as I call it the feast of no eating bread so I suspect that I’ll be back on weight by next Friday.

Sorry I dont do this weekly. Down to 216. Makes it 112lbs total lost since June 14, 2018. Muscle gain has slowed down the "weightloss" but I have lost 52inches between bicep, neck, chest, waist hips and thighs. Just keep swimming.
That's awesome man. Great job. How did you do it? You lose a lot in a short amount of time.
 
I actually had the vertical sleeve surgery. I battled with weight loss for years and finally had all I could take. Genetically I got the short end of the stick when it comes to weight/heart among other issues so I went for it and was best decision I think I've ever made. I eat very small balanced meals now and work out somewhere between 2 and 5 days a week depending on work schedule.
 
The one thing I have learned thru this whole process is how insane our portion sizes are in America. What little I eat and still able to survive is mind boggling. To put it into perspective, I can rarely finish a kids meal at a restaurant in one sitting. It has greatly cut down on the food bill and has made going out to eat almost a complete waste. Haha

That's what most people don't realize. Many meals at restaurants can be 3-4 servings, and when it is in front of you it is hard to make the decision to stop rather than when you are at home you can properly portion out what you should eat on your plate and just not go back for seconds/thirds. Eating out is usually unhealthy to begin with, even though it can be so good! That's why I implemented only going out to eat 1 meal a week, unless we are traveling, just can't help it. Good for you on making wise decisions moving forward, not only health benefits, but financial benefits!

You also have to set aside the guilt feeling that you aren't eating all of what you pay for. Sometimes we are going straight home and I can take leftovers with me. But sometimes I just have be okay with throwing money away. I wish more places had small plate options.

What works best for me, is if I'm able to order a side salad and broccoli, or plain sweet potato, and then have a few ounces of hubby's steak.

Kevin and I actually split meals often, unless we can have leftovers. So it works out well. Sometimes that means we just have to compromise on what the other person wants, but we have been agreeable on those things. I book us Airbnb's when we travel, that way we aren't going out for every meal and we can have leftovers when we travel.
